The Traditional Adventure Continues

It's not even nine o'clock yet and I'm ready for my nap.
Riley (who did not get her nap yesterday) was awake when I went to bed at ten-thirty and they were both awake when I got up at seven-thirty. And had gone upstairs and gotten all the Beany Babies and brought them downstairs and I don't know what all. Perhaps created an alternative universe where sleep was unheard of, is what I'm thinking.

When Mr. Moon got home last night they both immediately demanded that he make them walk on the ceiling which is what they remember about him the most. He complied.

I think that Kian's days of walking the ceiling are limited. Either that or Mr. Moon is going to have to increase his weight workouts.

We had our delicious traditional dinner of chicken strips (those I do make myself) and the Cheese Explosion! Mac'n'Cheese (except for me, I did not eat any- I wanted to! oh yes I did! but I did not) and steamed broccoli and carrots. I will say that Kian ate quite a bit of broccoli and Riley may have tasted a carrot.
And then the traditional bubble bath with the traditional argument over who gets which duck, and then the traditional reading of the books and then the traditional settling into bed with fifteen stuffed animals apiece and then the traditional warning/pleading by me for them to go immediately asleep and NOT GET UP! and then the traditional "He punched me!" tears and well, I guess they did go to sleep eventually unless they created that alternative universe.

I would not know. I stayed in this universe where I slept. I wish I was still there.

Of course when I got up this morning there was the traditional request for pancakes. I made them and they ate them.
Mr. Moon got a few too.

Kian, as you can see, is still rockin' the James Dean brooding thing.
My kitchen, as you can see, looks as if it has been used as campaign headquarters for the Meth And Sugar Addicts' Party Candidate.

Ah well.

And now I have them in the Glen Den where they are watching ten minutes of TV and when I post this we're going to go feed the chickens, look for eggs, and then decorate their dad's birthday cupcakes which I did somehow get baked and frosted last night.

Mr. Moon washed the dishes after supper last night which makes him the VERY BEST HUSBAND IN THE WORLD and I am not kidding you.
As I went to bed he said, "Are you going to read me a chapter of the Yearling?"
"I'm too tired," I said.
"I guess sex is out too, huh?"
I just looked at him. Then I said, "How about you come rub my shoulders which are so sore that my head aches from the tension in them?"
He said, "I'm too tired."

This is why god created Ibuprofen.

Now! Off to feed the chickens! God, we're having fun!

  1. Goodie goodie gumdrops! Sound a lot like my days. And poor Kian. It sucks when you outgrow the ceiling.

I love the bedtime scenario. Love it.
    I also love ibuprofen.

  3. Kian needs anti-gravity boots. Love the ceiling walking, it makes me think of Homer and Spider-pig, if that makes any sense.

It makes me sad to see requests for shoulder rubs turned down. But god knows children do mess up a sex life!

  4. Your fun and exhaustion with the kiddies reminds me a lot of my life. And the reuqests and refusals for sex/neckrubs happens more than I care to admit around here! Tired is the enemy of romance, I'm certain.
Have a fun day with the busy little ones. Your house will seem verrrry quiet when they are gone!

  13. Ms. Trouble- It's hard for me to believe I used to do this daily.
    And nightly.

Ms. Bastard-Beloved- You get all the ducks. Both regular, Mama, and disco.

    Jo- Ha!

Mel- I'm waiting on Owen now and the other kids are gone and it is very quiet. For this moment, at least.

Danielle- Never too tired for hugs. Ever. And neither is Mr. Moon. But I will take one of yours. And yes, you may walk on the ceiling.

Lois- It's tiring, isn't it? And lovely.

    Syd- Tired old gems.

    DTG- Exactly!

Elizabeth- We're old enough to be their grandparents.

    A- I am trying. So hard. I didn't eat a cupcake, either.

Nancy C- Then I have done my job!

  15. Just did a little catch-up reading here... ahh. I love that for a time-out I can come in here and plop down in front of Ms. Moon. I even have thought, "I'll write later, first I need to check in with Ms. M..."

I loved reading these last three posts together! The coming of the neice and nephew and the ongoing saga! Pretty darn cute kids and Auntie & Unc! And you, my dear, earn your nap every single day!

    Thanks.

  20. What I want to know is, how did you get them to stay in bed?? I think it must be a sleep miracle. Or an aunt's special powers, as I bet my son would stay in bed if my sister asked him to.
