Take It Easy, Old Lady

Well, today was weird.

I did not feel like taking a walk. I didn't feel bad, I just didn't want to do it and something was telling me not to. But because I'm a stubborn ass I decided that I was being silly and put on my walking shoes and took off. It was hot.
Sometimes I play little games with myself to make myself walk further. Today's game was to take pictures of all the churches I pass on my walk which would take me down past No Man Lord's and to the county line and then back through Lloyd. I passed my house on the way to the third church and really did not feel like going any further but, you know- keep on truckin', right?

So I walked up to where the interstate connects to Highway 59 and then back down Main Street so I could get the last two churches. By the time I got to the post office, I was ready to ask a stranger for a ride to my house which was about a block away.

But I didn't. Of course.

By then, the weird stomach/side pain I've had off and on for a few days was a tad screamy and I felt like I was about to spontaneously combust from heat.

Reader. I did not feel good.

I managed to do a few things like put laundry in the dryer and give Ralph a new vacuum bag and then I just had to lay down on my unmade bed where I read for awhile and then fell asleep. I was not in horrible pain but fairly strong discomfort, shall we say.

I got up a little while later, ate a yogurt, made up the bed with the dry sheets and went back to sleep for about an hour. Woke up and I'm feeling almost 100% better.
Still, I feel that it may soon be time to go see Dr. Zorn.

I am thinking gall bladder, perhaps. I'm amazed I still have one.

In the meantime, let's get through the weekend without a trip to the ER and all will be well.

So did I get my pictures?

You bet!

And you know what? I remembered just now that there's another church that I pass on my walk but it's down a dirt road and I did not get a picture of that. So that's five churches within a mile of my house.

This is the church next door to me. Our property extends behind it.

The church up near the interstate.

And now for the BIG church.

I will leave it to you to determine which one of these churches does not have fish fries to raise money.

When I moved to Lloyd, that last church was not nearly as big but then some years ago, about twenty luxurious-looking RV's moved onto the lot and a church-raising occurred. They were there for months and I have to say they built a fine looking church. I have only been in it to vote as it is a voting location.

That's a little spot down near No Man Lord's place that must have been a homesite at one time because azaleas like that don't just occur naturally. They must be planted. And if you look closely, you can see that there are actually two varieties there.

Another little mystery of Lloyd.

Jessie reports that August just told her that his pain level is "zero and a quarter." I'd say that's pretty good.

And look what Mr. Moon just found in the garden:

Potatoes coming up! That was fast. The onions are sending up shoots too.

Happy Friday, y'all.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. Sorry to hear about your side pain. Tis a mystery. If it continues, I guess a trip to the doc is in line. All those churches gave me the willies! LOL! I guess knowing what goes on inside them does it for me. Being a Unitarian Universalist/Buddhist I'm no fan of most mainline churches. Most don't like/accept 'us folks' if you know what I mean. Though, I know things are changing....slowly. I've been thrown under the bus by enough that I closed that door. The church structures/architecture was most charming, though, on those smaller churches. Feel better.

    1. I do know exactly what you mean and although I agree that there are changes being made as to acceptance, they are not fast and vast enough. I haven't set foot in a church in forever. I go for weddings and funerals. Reluctantly. Although churches can be beautiful inside.

  2. Definitely get you to the doctor, better sooner than the ER. I believe we know you don't have an appendix any longer, so best to rule out the other stuff. Get back to feeling OK and a quarter. I liked three of the four churches. Reminded me of the one we attended as children. Mega churches are taking over.

    1. That Methodist church isn't what you'd call a mega church although there are those in Tallahassee for sure. My favorite church that I ever attended was the Roseland Gardens Community Church. Windows on all sides and nature abounding as well as a rose garden.

  3. Please don't do what I did and dismiss the weird pain that went away anyway. My surgeon told me I could have died in any of the ( admittedly severe) attacks I'd had. I kept thinking a weird virus causing extreme sweating and weakness. No, it was probably a gallstone doing dangerous things in the bile duct. Anyway, eventually, at the insistence of another doctor, who, knowing me, called and set up the appointment himself, I did go. So between them, they tossed my gallbladder and saved my bacon. Anyway, to cut to the chase, please check it out.

    1. If this keeps up, I will. I promise. I have felt pretty fine today.

  4. What Boud said.
Am I correct in assuming each church has it's own particular brand of churchy business? If there was a god I can imagine much shaking of the head at the craziness of the beings he created in his own image. How is that for arrogance? Why did the people that made all this up decide that god had to look like them? I prefer the religions with weird and wonderful deities.
Zero and a quarter. Love it.

    1. I imagine that every one who worships a god envisions a different one in their minds. Religion is just so far from anything that makes any sense to me that I am baffled at anyone's belief.

  5. That's a lot of churches for one small area. My potatoes are tall, spindly, weedy looking things, they just don't get enough sun but there's nowhere else to put the pot so it won't get fiercely sunburnt. I'll give it a wait and see trial then plant something else there next year. Maybe another philodendron. Now I have to google gall bladder.

    1. There are SO many churches around here. And most of them are indeed very small. Monticello has some larger ones of the usual denominations and Tallahassee probably has all of them. Hell, they're building a Mormon temple there!

  6. So I'm guessing the christians that belong to that last, big church, don't believe the part of the bible that says, money is the root of all evil.

I got through the day, that is all I can say. It sucked and now I'm going to bed. I did have a drink with my supper though, thought of you and Mr. Moon.

    1. Well, it's not nearly as ostentatious as some churches are but for this tiny area, it's a big one.
I am so sorry you had a shitty day. I hope you enjoyed your drink at least.

  7. Which side of the abdomen has the screamy pain? Stomach is on the left, gall bladder on the right just under the liver. You may need a colonoscopy. Not trying to scare you.

    1. On the right side. Don't worry. But thank you for worrying.

  9. Yep I'd say it's time to visit the doctor too! My friend came over on Sunday night and told me she's been suffering almost constant migraines at the back of her skull and behind her right eye. This has been going on for quite some time now but the pain is now constant. I finally convinced her to go to the doctor and her blood pressure is sky high (a new one for her) and she is on a monitor until next Friday. It's better to be safe (and put your mind at rest)!

  10. I am agreeing with the others.....get to the doc!

  11. Go to the doctor. Please. Better safe than sorry.

  12. Yes, get the Pain seen to so that you aren't ignoring something that could be important and before it reaches a crisis point and an ER Emergency visit. Wow, a lot of Churches for a small Community, but the smaller ones look so Quaint and Photo Op worthy to show the Beauty of your Lloyd visuals when you take a Walk. Feel better soon.

I agree with you about the smaller churches.

  13. Before I saw that it was a potato coming up, I thought it looked like an African Violet! Dumb me!

  14. i would say that is five churches too many! If your pain is gallbladder I empathize! All three of us had ours out in the same month. Terrible stone attacks due to fat free diet thinking we were doing something healthy...

    1. Well, I'm certainly eating fat free!

    2. Now I'm thankful I'm NOT fat free, although I don't overdo the fat either, I just prefer full fat foods to the diet versions with all the chemicals.

  15. Please do go to the Doctor. It may be nothing, but if it isn't it's best to know as soon as possible.

Zero and a quarter. Little mathematic there! Love his desire to be accurate. And yes, I’m going to echo all the others. Please go see Dr. Zorn this week. If not for your peace of mind then for all of ours. You are so loved.

  18. That's a drag about the pain. I wouldn't worry too much unless it persists for two weeks or more. (That's what the medical guidelines I've seen say about mysterious aches and pains, unless they also come with more acute symptoms like vomiting or fever.) Weren't you wondering about your appendix some time ago? Is this the same pain?
