Small Things And Large, All Important

So this morning while I was in the bathroom, brushing my teeth and girding my loins for another day of life on the planet, I missed a call from the urologist concerning my CT scan. He left me a voicemail though.

Was this transcription useful or not useful?
Well, that's a good question. I am so mad I missed the call because he did not mention the large stone that the last scan showed and I would like to see what that's doing. Also? Small stones in BOTH kidneys?
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.
I knew that was a possibility but hellfire.
So yes, I suppose I just wait for one of those small stones to make it's way to the nearest tube and try to go through it, whereupon AGONY will be the first symptom, at which time I will make my way to a facility where they serve morphine to kidney stone passers and Dr. Vera will be notified.
I could call the doctor back and might do that but the message seems pretty clear and besides that, as most of you know, getting to speak to the actual doctor is like getting to speak to god which, theoretically is possible but in reality is difficult as you have to go through many, many steps and hurdles to get to Himself.

Ay-yi-yi.

Moving on, here's a very nice thing that happened today.

Hank's new best old friend came home to him.
Here's how he explained it on Facebook.

"When I was a kid, I had a bear named Archie. He was my buddy and I slept with him well into adulthood. In my 20s, I lost him while escaping a very bad situation.

My Mama just got me my bear again. He's not my exact Archie (mine had to have his tongue replaced after a toddler biting incident) but he's my Archie now. Thank you, Mama!"

Did I already write about this? If so, there's the picture. If not...there's the picture. Archie arrived at the Lloyd PO this morning and since I was already planning a trip to town I took him with me and delivered him to his new best old friend. This makes me so happy.
In a text after I'd handed over custody, Hank said, "It's so funny. I missed him."

Zippy and I understand.

I swear- eBay should start using the slogan, "Reuniting childhood friends since 1995."

I did other things in town today too but nothing interesting enough to talk about. Well, except for the fact that I forgot to take my list which was so distressing. I was going to just buy one of everything in Publix but decided against that. I ended up getting the things I needed most and Lord knows I'll be back at Publix again soon.
It is just sad when you absolutely have to make a list to grocery shop because you can't remember shit and then you forget to take the list to the grocery store because you can't remember shit.
Sigh.
But I did remember to get tofu and salmon so all is well.
Haven't talked to Mr. Moon today except via text. I hope that means he's having fun. I bet it does.

Meanwhile, Maurice and I are holding down the fort just fine. She and I are good.

We send our best. We're both on the back porch, enjoying a rare late afternoon breeze, looking up to see what's going on when it rattles the magnolia leaves which are falling daily as new leaves push them off the branches. Undressing, dressing, the magnolia tree is getting ready for its the huge, waxy, lemon-scented blossoms which are like corsages on the deep green gown the grandiflora wears this time of year, every year.

And she is always the belle of the ball.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. LOVE the bear, and Sippy and your previous post re: duck decoys- I love them too IF they are antiques! I have a Canadian goose decoy , huge, falling apart, as it is made of pressed paper. It would not fool any gander!

    2. "Auto mistake" is more like it.
A pressed paper Canada goose decoy? That's a new one on me.

  2. So cool to restore the bear to Hank! They both look content. About the kidney stones, I wonder if the large one disintegrated into smaller ones? And I certainly wish there were a better answer than wait and see.

    1. I have looked up that very question but it appears that the only way for large kidney stones to become small ones is to blast them with lithotripsy or a laser. So. Guess not.

  3. What are the chances of finding Archie #2? Remarkably, you've reunited Archie and Hank. Hank looks delighted and I am sure Zippy approves too.
Do nothing until another crisis recommendations are never ideal. Your question about the big stone seen previously is valid. I'd be tempted to get a second opinion.
Your magnolia is twice the size of mine and is a glorious tree. Both of my magnolias (#1 is a Tulip magnolia and #2 is Elizabeth) put out flowers first then drop the flowers and produce leaves. Regional differences in trees are fascinating to me. Thank you for sharing.

    1. I had never heard of an Elizabeth magnolia. I just looked them up- how gorgeous! I don't think they'll grow here. Our zone is too hot. If we could, I would.

  4. Do you have a medical portal? I can't ever talk to my Doc on the phone but they tend to respond to messages left on the portal. It would be nice to know what happened to the big stone.

    1. Yes. We have those GD medical portals and I don't use them. I hate them. I don't know why but it's related to my all-things-medical phobia.

  5. Argh. Medical stuffs.. I am about fed up with it myself. But Hank got Archie and that is a good thing. AND you have magnolias.

    1. Medical stuffs indeed. EFF the medical stuffs! I mean, unless you need surgery or morphine.

  6. I'm so happy Hank has an Archie again, the blissful smile on his face says it all. Is it possible the one big stone broke itself into smaller ones and that's why it wasn't mentioned? I sometimes forget to take my shopping list and just wing it, but other times I DO take the list and STILL forget to pick up the one thing I went for in the first place.

    1. I think Hank is very happy to have his Archie back.
I don't think it's possible for a big stone to break into smaller ones without medical intervention so I have no idea what's going on.
I have also forgotten the one thing I need the most on my list and how that happens, I do not know.

  8. I'm so glad Hank and Archie (bis) were reunited! And as for shopping lists, if I have a long list I do ok, but if I have just three things on my list (and forget to take it) I always forget at least one of them!

    1. Girl! I do the same! Except that I don't do that well with a long list either when I forget it.

  9. Love Archie and Hank. What a wonderful thing to do. And pure poetry: “Undressing, dressing, the magnolia tree is getting ready for its the huge, waxy, lemon-scented blossoms which are like corsages on the deep green gown the grandiflora wears this time of year, every year.” You have a beautiful way with words.

  10. I love your "corsage" image. And that is a fabulous picture of Hank and his new/old friend!

Maybe the large stone has somehow degraded or shrunk to be smaller? Does that happen? (Wishful thinking, probably.)

    1. Doesn't Hank look happy?
I don't think that large stones can be shrunk or degraded. I wish.

  12. I think you should reach out to the doctor because it will bother you thinking about it or I should say it would bother ME thinking about it if it was my pain. So call or send him a message through your online chart if you have one. (if you want to...)
I still have Beary who will be 73 years old this year. He is in rough shape but I am still happy to have him!

    1. I have one of those medical portals. In fact, I probably have six of them for every damn doctor or procedure I've had in the last however many years. I haven't used one yet.
That is so sweet about Beary. I used to have a Lambie and I miss her.

  13. My magnolia doesn't really get enough sun bracketed on one side by a pecan and the other by a maple. She does bloom but not as much as she could and takes forever for a few blossoms to open down where I can reach them.

I still have my cloth clown doll from childhood, the only survivor.

    1. My giant magnolia doesn't bloom that much either but I cherish each and every one I can see.
I bet I know what your cloth clown doll looks like. A lot of us had those, I think.

  14. Lucky Hank. I had a lovely old teddy bear, but I have no idea what happened to it. Long gone.
I have to take a list to the grocery store and yes, I forget the list too. Now I place it on top of my purse, when I remember, and then I don't usually forget it.
I have many lists, and then I make new lists from the old lists, and so on. You are not alone my dear:)

    1. I almost NEVER forget my list because I am so lost without it but I sure did yesterday. And I realized I'd left it behind the second I pulled into Costco.
Glen makes SO many lists. I find them everywhere.

  15. That’s a lovely thing you did, reuniting those old friends. I know it brought you as much joy as it did Hank. Yes, call the doctor back. He didn’t answer your question about the larger stone. You should ask it and set your mind at rest.
