Lots of Links and Blah-Blah-Blahs

I am loving, loving, loving this new Mac. I am getting used to the track pad. My fingers still want to find the clicky-part, slide down and click there but I don't have to. I can just click...anywhere.

I wish I had someone MacGeniusey to show me things it can do because I know I could rule the world if I had mastery of all the functions. Perhaps I should go buy a MacBook Pro For Dummies. I learned to use my first Mac with one of those books. I'm not kidding you. It was insanely fun. For someone who is basically a technotarded Luddite (thank-you, Hank) I sure do love a computer. An Apple computer.

Anyway, la-di-dah. How are you this morning? I am fine. I woke up with terrible leg cramps at 12:47 a.m. I could feel the muscle in my thigh tighten up and then ARRGGGHHH! and as soon as that would pass, my calf muscle would begin to do the same little rolling rhumba. And THEN, the foot! Oh! It was like torture! I stretched, I breathed, I relaxed, I tightened, I moaned.
No one was in the bed with me but Zeke and he could not have cared less.
Oh well. It all passed and I went back to sleep. I suppose it could have been caused by my use of the Exercycle yesterday. I did THIRTY MINUTES on it, watching TV. That show was on with the horrible English lady who takes failing hair salons and turns them into fully functioning places of business.

I love that show. What's it called?
Shit. My brain is not working today.
Okay. Google.

Tabatha's Salon Takeover.

That woman is a demon! And weird-looking. And people hate her!
She's awesome.

All right- questions:

1. Why are there still Chia pets? Really? Scooby-Doo Chia Pets? People buy these?

2. Why would anyone buy a Christmas ornament that counts down the days, hours, and minutes until Christmas so that their child can announce the time until The Big Present Opening a million times a day? The commercial for this product is so annoying that I can't imagine it inspiring anyone to go out and buy one and bring it home for actual use.

3. Why do hair stylists feel the need to dress all hoochie? Is this something they teach at the Beauty Institute?

Okay. Moving on.

Speaking of Zeke, he is in his sweater now because it is cold. Here he is:
When there is ice on the cat water, it is time to put the dog's sweater on him.
There is ice on the cat water.

It really is a most glorious day, albeit cold. For us, of course. Anytime we see ice outside of a freezer or a glass, we are impressed. And probably scared, too. I remember when I lived in Denver for a year and a half and during the winter all I could think about was what would happen if all the electricity went out? Everyone would die! There weren't even any trees to cut down and burn for warmth! It was terrifying.

A few quick pictures:

The sturdy and frost-proof turnips and mustard greens.

The showy, glowy Nandina.

And this:

My hallway with my first Christmas card of the year! Our darling Elizabeth sent it to me. She knows me so well. I think it offers my home just that special touch. Don't you?

All right. I also wanted to write about having let Owen eat a few tiny lightbulbs the other day and also about the wonderful tights that Jo sent me last year and which it is now cold enough to wear but I don't have time! I will say, though, that Owen is fine and that none of MY children ever ate lightbulbs and also that I will take a picture of me in the tights to show you because they are just the most fun and lovely and warm and cozy.

But now I have to go get chili made to go in the crockpot and then run to town to take care of my grandson for an hour.
Can you believe they still LET me?

The universe is abundant as our wise Michelle says.

Stay warm.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. I would feel so jipped if I moved to Florida and I saw ice outside of the freezer or a glass. The ponds are starting to freeze over a bit around here. But nothing any thicker than a piece of tissue. But it's still ice....and I hate being cold.

  2. My youngest sister drank a bottle of perfume and ate a pack of my step-mother's matches when she was little and she survived. Of course they pumped her stomach both times, but the rides to the emergency room sure were fun!

  3. It is colder than a witch's tit here. Not getting out of the 30's today. Glad that you like the Mac. It looks awesome.

  4. I like that Tabatha show. But I think she might be Australian? Anyway, why do hairdressers wear hoochie clothes? Good question.

  5. You don't have time to wear tights?

Oh. you don't have time to photograph yourself in tights. I empathise.

And I heart your new computer. I want one too. I think I can make the change...

  6. Rebecca- You could move to south Florida. I doubt they have ice.

Lois- How do any of us survive to age two? It's a mystery.

Syd- In a brass bra. Stay warm. And the Mac IS awesome.

DTG- You're probably right. Australian. Love you.

Jo- I think you could manage that particular sort of change. I LOVE those tights! Pictures to follow.

  8. Toshiba must be copying Apple..I can expand or contract with my trackpad, and click anywhere like on a macbook...and the windows 7 reminds me more of an Apple too...when I can down the road, I'll get a Mac but for now, cheapness of a windows laptop was a necessary evil..

  9. You can bet some dumb douchebags have already bought the countdown to Christmas thing.

Thank you for the photo of Zeke. He is McCute.

    Love you!

  10. I would nearly consider getting a dog after seeing that cuteness of a jumper on that dog! Nearly.

I got my first Christmas card - from Angie Muresan. A blogger far away! It amazed me completely.

  11. deb- Thank you, dear.

Mr. Mischief- In the end, you probably pay less for a Mac. Well, that's my rationalization.

Ms. Bastard-Beloved- Not me. I ain't buying that shit. I posted the picture of Zeke just for you.

Mwa- Angie M is a gracious and loving light in our lives. So are you.

  12. I got a macbookpro just a few weeks ago, coming from a pc. WOW. I feel like I've come out from under a rock! And I do feel the need for a dummies book. It is very different. Where is the backspace button? And delete only goes in reverse? My stepdaughter set the touchpad thingy to a tap rather than a click and I really like it. Don't ask me how she did it though - at least not until I get a dummies book.

  14. Jucie- Backspace IS delete. Don't know why it only goes backwards. To adjust things, go to the system preferences. They are down in your dock and it looks like gears. I LOVE the tapping feature.
I'm glad you came out from under a rock. It's a whole new world, isn't it?
