No Title

I was in town today from ten until five something. Errands, appointments, MerMer-ing. And I am exhausted. And tomorrow I will be going back to town to get my teeth cleaned and then on to Rachel's birthday lunch, then Costco, then Publix. I did go to Publix today but only got the things I truly needed in order to go get Jessie's car and pick up Levon from school.
Some of what life is about these days is fairly stressful and not easy to deal with and some of those things I can't talk about. But please bear with me if I do not answer comments or (God forebid!) comment on your blogs.
I'm fine. Absolutely. No one is dying. It's just one of those times, you know?

We did get our rain here today. More tomorrow. And now they're saying that we may even get snow this weekend. I mean...really?
Well, who knows? I have definitely seen that before. The best thing about the weather is that there have been massive wild fires to the west of us and the rain will hopefully end them.

Another good thing is that today I got to hug one of the people who call me "Mom". Not a child I birthed, but a dear one. I had not seen him in a long time.

And now off to piece together some sort of supper.
Oh! August is playing Solitaire now.

He also informed me today that if my glasses were darker, I wasn't so old and was less wrinkled and skinnier, I could be a teacher. For some reason, this cracked him up which cracked me up. I informed him that teachers wear all sorts of glasses and some are old and have wrinkles and not all of them are skinny.
He wasn't buying it.
Levon asked me why I was SO BOSSY TODAY! In his defense, he was a tired little boy.
But they both gave me kisses when I left.
I think they still love me.
They better.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. If you weren't so Old, less Wrinkled, Skinnier AND had Darker Glasses, well, he seems to have his Laundry List of what Qualifications Teachers ought to have... and it IS hilarious... how could one take offense at what the Innocents say, it always makes me Laugh. They are so Adorable... and, I've been accused of being Bossy at times... who knew? *Smiles*

    1. Kids. Their outlooks on life and adults is sometimes mindblowing, sometimes eye-opening, and always worth listening to.

  2. Answer: because I'm the Mermer! Gales of laughter's from boys.

Your days are packed. Even a couple of those errands would be it for the day for me. Well, some bits are enjoyable. Like the birthday lunch.

    1. Lady- all of these days lately have been far over my limit of what I usually do. Sometimes life just shovels it all out at once though. I plan to do nothing this weekend. Let's see how that works out.

    1. I agree. With a deck of cards and books, one will never be alone.

  5. I love the teacher comments. I'm definitely not a skinny teacher, but I do wear dark glasses and have plenty of wrinkles.

    2. Elizabeth, I can never get SubStack to allow my comments so I just wanted to let you know how sorry I am to hear of your Mom's diagnosis. Sophie looked radiant and Happy for her 27th Birthday. Virtual Hugs.

  6. I'm sure they still love you. I play solitaire sometimes still, when I'm out of sorts and can't settle to doing anything else.

  7. I'm sorry you've got stress in your life that you can't talk about, and I hope it all resolves quickly and happily.

Don't worry about replies or comments. Honestly, I don't know how you manage to write and comment and respond as much as you do already! I can never seem to do any of those things consistently and I feel so bad about it. My blog friends are true friends and I worry they'll feel slighted.

Those boys are too cute! I love the teacher comments.

    1. Thank you, Jennifer! And it's all okay. Everything will be okay.
Please don't ever think we feel slighted by you in the least. You are so dear and so genuine that we're just happy when you post or comment. Always.

  8. Well by all means take care of whatever and whoever needs care. We will survive! It's funny that August thinks teachers can't have wrinkles.

    1. Perhaps all of the old teachers at his school have either retired or died of covid. That sounds so mean. I'm feeling rather dark these days.

  10. When my grandsons stayed with me for the 2 weeks that their parents were gone, Michael (4 years old today!) said I was a "bad grandma" when he was angry with me. But when it came time for them to go home, he cried that he didn't want to leave!
Hope your worries and troubles get straightened out.

  11. When I do something Jack doesn't like he yells, "You bad guy nana!" at me.

I hope things sort themselves out in a good way for everyone. Sending hugs.

  12. Darling Mary, I hope Rachel's birthday lunch was lovely, and that you will find time to recharge as you need. I was called bossy in kindergarten, and growing up my brother could win any argument just by calling me that. Now, however, I fully claim the title. Levon will come to understand, lol.

    1. I think he's projecting, that little boy. He's the bossy one around the house. He is small but he is mighty.

  13. As a former teacher myself I can confirm that the qualities one looks for in a successful member of the teaching profession are:-
    a) Very dark glasses - like those a blind person might wear.
    b) Youth - the younger the better.
    c) Complete lack of wrinkles. Fillers may be required.
    d) Thinness. Excess fat should be burnt off through exercise or surgically removed.
    e) The ability to speak coherently may be advantageous.

    1. I obviously will never be a teacher at this point. I can't even speak coherently. Damn.
