Never Stop, Never Stop, Never Stop

The Magnificent Magnolia is here for a sleep-over. She is not wearing that jacket now but actually was when I took the picture. Her mother had begged her not to wear it (I mean, it's like 95 degrees here) but she insisted. After being here a few minutes though, when her mom suggested that perhaps she could leave the jacket here for August or Levon because really, it's a little too small for her, she immediately took it off and gave it to me to give to them.
That girl is sweet.

And because she's here, I have to keep this short. It's time for me to start concentrating on our supper and I still haven't quite finished cleaning up from the cobbler I just made.

And I made that after my day's pickling and preserving effort which yielded three and a half pints of peach preserves and seven pints of dill pickles. I feel quite satisfied with all of that.

So all of that is good and there were no boil-overs today and I've used up almost all of the peaches. Lily and I tasted the pickled peaches and I have to say that they may be the best thing I will preserve this year. If I ever do peaches again, I'm concentrating my efforts on them.

Here's a picture I took last night of the okra and tomatoes I was cooking.

I took the picture because it was just so dang pretty.

And here's a picture I took of the babies where they were roosting in the hen house last night.

But all of this (except for Maggie's visit) pales in comparison to this.

My heart is dancing. The old boys are going to start it up again. I bet they're chomping at the bit to get back on the road with their spouses, their partners, their kids, their kids' spouses and partners, their grandkids, hell- their GREAT grandkids.
In Mick's case at least.
I probably won't even go see them but I am completely happy knowing that they are all fit enough to be insured to go on tour.
Ooh boy.

Gotta go make supper now.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. "Dang" is a good American word. Do you think that is used in place of "damned"? As usual your kitchen work was quite magnificent.

    1. I think it's more of a replacement for simply "damn." I have a friend who uses it and she is so dang cute I've started using it too.

  3. Agree with Linda Sue go and see the Stones. I only saw em once and they were awful. Hours late Keith had cut his hand with a knife. They were out of it. Am not a big Stones fan Was 1976 like. Best band of day were Lynard Skynard who were on first l think wasn't a fan of them but ignoring the politics and whilst being sad for the terrible tragedies they endured They were and still are the best band l ever saw live and have seen a lot of bands. Love Maggi from the blistering hot UK. Please we Brits can't take it. We'll this one can't. xxxx

    1. Well, I have always loved the Stones because they were...the Stones. But after I read Keith's book, I became a fan(atic). Especially about him.
I saw the Stones in probably 1982 or '81. It was in New Orleans. I was overwhelmed by it all. It was the cherry picker show and there were millions of balloons. It was a lot.

  4. Great pickling and canning exploits. And that skillet is lovely. Great colors.

Stones so far from my radar I just about know who they are..

    1. Well, that's okay. You don't have to be a fan of the Stones for me to be a fan of yours.
I thought that skillet of vegetable goodness was like a painting.

  5. Those old guys are so inspiring. If you just keep moving like that maybe the grim reaper will never catch up.

    1. Well, of course the grim reaper will eventually show up but maybe not for a little while, at least. I am pretty sure that Keith would like to go while onstage. It sure would be fitting. His wife probably has different feelings about that.

  6. Isn't it amazing all the work involved in reducing a canner full of green beans and a create of peaches into a few jars AND a cobbler. Beautiful, all of it.

  8. That dish is so pretty and looks yummy too! As for Kids wearing Cold Weather Clothing in the heat of Summer, they all seem to do it... my Teen Grandchild wears her Hoodie and some days its 118! *LOL* Then in the Winter they don't want to wear a Jacket, go figure! One Grandchild said something I never forgot: Why do we have to wear a Jacket because you're Cold Gramma? That cracked me up.

    1. It's true. Kids do that. Owen's being wearing a ski cap for weeks now. It's his head. Why not?

  9. I didn't know you could pickle peaches. I don't care for pickled flavors but maybe I need to try now that I'm older and my tastebuds aren't so sensitive.

    Lovely photos.

I know you don't like crowds, me neither, but I see that they're going to be in Tampa. You could drive there. Just saying.

    1. Pickled peaches are very sweet the only spices are cloves and cinnamon. Traditionally, here at least, they are served at holiday meals. These are just so good.
It's not the drive to Tampa that triggers my anxiety! It's all the other stuff. But, yeah. I should do it.

  10. we've been roasting okra, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle salt and roast until crisp. Maggie has her own fashion sense and temperature doesn't figure into it. and the baby chicks are growing. have you figured out how many roosters yet?

    1. That sounds delicious, Ellen. I need to do that.
You're right about Maggie's fashion sense. And it is ON POINT!
Haven't figured out the whole rooster thing yet but I have a few definite suspicions.

  11. The okra mix IS pretty. And the cobbler looks amazing! I'm so glad all your chickens are back where they're supposed to be. Hope you're having a great time with Maggie.

    1. The cobbler is good. Mr. Moon says it is fit to eat.
And Maggie was a doll baby.

  12. You are getting your money's worth out of your new stove! You certainly know how to make food look yummy!
I think I counted 13 cities in that Rolling Stones tour! I can't imagine how they do it!
Hope you and Maggie had a great time!

    1. I sure am. And I can't believe how fast that stove brings a huge canning kettle full of water to a boil. It's a dream stove for me.
I can't imagine how the Stones do it either. And I have to say- especially Mick. He must dance/walk/and sing at the same time for miles during every show.

  13. You do make some pretty food. (And I still say you are a better woman than I!)

Lily certainly knows how to get Maggie to do what she wants (...through the backdoor as my mother used to say--as in, pass it to much love cousin). Of course, I realize that was just today. Doubtless Lily wishes it would work every time.

    1. Haha!
That surely did work for Maggie that time, anyway. She is so very generous when it comes to her cousins.

  14. The Rolling Stones really are in a class of their own. I love that they're still together and still touring with their whole familial entourage all these decades later. They've made such good lives after all.
