Bringing It All Back Home

First off, let me say- we are home. Just got in about an hour ago and have unloaded the car and checked out the garden (the weeds! the weeds!) and put a very few things away.

So much to do to settle in.

But see that picture up there? That's where we stayed last night. Oh Lord. As I texted my children- just staying in that place has probably nullified any bit of good karma I have ever acquired. Well, what are you going to do? Mr. Moon found it on the internet, it was on our route home, and he booked it. He was being very sweet. And it was a lovely place. Gorgeous old (harumph) plantation house but I like my old Florida cracker-ish house a lot better. Too much dark wood and fru-fru doily things and pictures of magnolias that came from Stein Mart,  probably. The room was lovely though and was even good to sleep in once the air conditioning managed to cool it down. The ceilings were about twenty feet tall so that's a lot to ask from a few air vents.

But none of this is what I came here to talk about. This is just a we're-home-and-all-is-well placeholder post and I'll do better tomorrow. I need to go unpack my kitchen stuff and fix us a little supper. We had a large late lunch and that, too, is a story. Let me just say this- the south is an odd and surprising place sometimes and I think we have experienced at least some of the good and some of the bad and some of the amazing and some of the mundane and some of the hysterical on our drives to and from North Carolina.
For instance:

One stop shopping in Augusta, Georgia.

But now we're home and I am glad to be. I have to tell you that Mark left our house in far better shape as to tidiness and cleanliness than it was when we left and I love him with all of my heart.

Home.

Love...Ms. Moon

  3. Well, that wraps my day perfectly. Sweet dreams to you and the pets and the chickens. Not the weeds; may they shiver and fall overnight.

    1. We slept very well. And dang it- it's the tomatoes that have shivered and fallen! Ugh.

    1. It's going to take me at least a week to catch up around here but then again- do I ever really catch up? Of course not. Oh well. Such is life.

  8. WOW that was a quick trip! Probably seems like a small eternity to you , having to drive all that way. Glad you are back, pretty sure the chicken girls are as well. Your family in NC is probably crying right now because you can not be in two places at the same time.

    1. No- seemed like a pretty short trip to me too. I think the chickens and the cats were quite happy with Mark although Jack and Maurice did come to greet us when we got home and Jack seemed very happy to have me to snuggle with last night.

  9. Jewellery and Firearms together? I guess some might like a little bling on their guns. I always enjoy coming home, walking in the door and seeing everything familiar.

  10. I'm sure you're glad to be back. That old plantation house looks really cool (not literally) and I imagine staying there was interesting, despite the Stein Mart decorating scheme!

    1. Steve- there was a candelabra on the mantel in the formal dining room with pink candles. PINK! I cracked up. That place was huge.
