I talked to her, she's having a frustrating day. But she didn't explode, and she bought a cast iron tortilla press, so I think everything will be okay.
I'm fine. Sort of. Nothing exploded, not even a tiny finger, but there's still time left in this day. We do have a gas leak in our propane tank and really, it would be much messier if that exploded than if my head exploded but the gas guy (who almost made my head explode) said unless we built a fire "right there" it would be fine. I guess all my Southerness caught up to me or something. Now excuse me because I MUST go pick some collard greens.
Totally agree with you on the hormone thing. And how, after menopause, do you predict? You can't! It's just...crazy. Makes your head explode. No fires. And I bought the Maseca. Grind my own? Good God. I never even thought of that. We don't have the right kind of corn here. I think. And after some experimentation, we decided that saran wrap on the press worked better than waxed paper. For us. And now I believe I have some very delicious, if not authentic, enchiladas in the oven as we speak. Chicken, black bean, etc.
We're fine. Just got our electricity back on but the tornadoes (if that's what they were) did their damage just west of here in Capitola. I don't think anyone there was actually hurt. I have this on good information from our assistant post mistress who knows EVERYTHING that goes on in this part of JEfferson County. I mean, really. She does.
You okay?
ReplyDeleteWhen are we going to lunch?
DTG, better go check on her! This sounds like maybe IV time rather than "lunch"!!

Hormones. We're one big chemical like the gas in the tank. Important to stay away from big fires, yeah. Collards will help.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Don't forget to buy some waxed paper to line that tortilla press. You grinding your own masa or buying Maseca?

So, were they the most delicious thing ever?
ReplyDeleteThey were pretty darn good.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet they beat my chicken salad on iceberg lettuce. I was in a hurry and just grabbed dinner from the local hoagie shop.
ReplyDeleteAny tornadoes down there this morning? Everybody OK?
