Short And Sweet

Y'all. I'm just not feeling up to much of a post this evening. Everything's fine. We had sweet visitors this morning for pancakes.

I kept telling Jessie- I am making way too many pancakes. I am making enough pancakes for four hundred people!
And she kept telling me- I don't think so.
There were two left when we were done. I can't even tell you how many August ate. Like...seven? Nah. Probably only about five. But still.
And Levon ate a bunch too. They were hungry for pancakes.
There was Wii playing with Boppy, and Mermer read books. Jessie trimmed my hair for me and then she trimmed her daddy's. She probably cut at least six inches of mine off and I am so glad. It's been way over a year since mine was cut and it was ridiculous. And then she helped her dad clean off the deck between the house and the old kitchen. I cannot tell you how happy I am about that.

Anyway, it's getting late and I need to bake bread that I started last night and I've thawed and peeled shrimp for gumbo and I need to get on it. I'm pretty much exhausted. Not from doing much, I assure you, just life in general.

Here's another picture.

That's another thing that happened.

And now I believe I'll go chop vegetables and make a roux.

More tomorrow.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. Your babies came for pancakes! What a swell morning! How can that small tall child eat so much pancake? Hollow legs ,they say. Anyway, a well deserved good time for you, maybe we are on the upswing.

    1. I am buying the hollow leg theory. No way his tummy could hold all those pancakes.

  2. Life in general exhausts me these days so I understand. I love all the sweet pictures. That last picture reminded me of how my Dad used to push my boys around in his wheelbarrow and they love it so much.

    1. Children do love to be pushed around in wheelbarrows or pulled around in carts. It's a sweet thing.

  5. I'm down here on the Gulf Coast (Palmetto area) and we've had 1.43 inches of rain since midnight. My Achilles tendon surgical site is damned-near vibrating with pain, my broken ankle (30th birthday surprise...34 years ago!) is aching like a mutha, and my recently diagnosed arthritis-ridden right knee has been flat-out screaming all day. If I don't talk myself out of it every minute or so, I would break out in heaving sobs. I have no idea why, but it can't 'just' be the rain, right????

    1. My ribs have been aching too. Also, my hips. I think it is "just" the rain. I'm so sorry you're in pain. Can you take ibuprofen? I find it to be so helpful.

  6. Mary, your days are so busy and you certainly do more tan I do! I consider it a good day if dinner gets made and the dog goes for a long walk with me. I just love to hear about your family and what you get up to in Lloyd. Yonkers is a city that does not seem to ever rest. There are a lot of us living in houses that are quite close together. A world of difference but it has its' good points. All the best to you.

    1. I don't think I've ever known anyone from Yonkers. I love that name! I just looked it up and it's a really big city! And it sure has some beautiful areas in it and a very interesting downtown.

  7. Such sweetness in this simple busy family day. Such love. Levon is starting to get his big boy face.

    1. He is getting his big boy face! There is no doubt about it. He can be so merry and he can be so serious. I told Jessie that he was really starting to steal my heart and she said, "You can have him then." She didn't mean it, of course, but he can be a little devilish at times. Not around Mer and Bop of course!

    1. I think that sometimes Jessie wouldn't mind putting the boys up for storage for a bit. Then she'd miss them. They're pretty cute potatoes.

  13. a more normal day. and yay for that. I need a haircut. it's longer than it was after I had my friend and fellow river guide cut it for me on our last trip together. and she cut it shoulder length then. I may have to bite the bullet and call Maria. maybe I'll wash it before going so all she has to do it cut it. I can wear a mask while she cuts. or maybe she can cut it dry.

    1. Mine was down to my waist which isn't a bad thing but it's gotten so thin it was just annoying me. I think you can safely get yours cut at a shop.
