Lagniappe

I can't believe I almost forgot. Today would have been John Lennon's eightieth birthday if...

Well. I still can't really talk about that. But a friend of mine posted this video on Facebook and it brought tears to my eyes and I wanted to share it here.

St. Dolly Parton, whom I have taken to calling "the universal solvent," singing St. John's and St. Yoko's Imagine.

Now more than ever.

They're not the only ones. Happy Birthday, dear John.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. What a legend Dolly Parton is and you just know that she chose to sing that song because she believed in its central message. I remember clearly the day that John Lennon died. Over here in England we were all asleep when Mark Chapman squeezed the trigger and we woke to the dreadful news. I pushed a quick note under a friend's door before I hurried off to work - "LENNON IS DEAD". But he is not entirely dead is he?

    1. He is NOT entirely dead. And of course, I too remember where I was when I found out. I'd had a run and pulled my paper out of the box and scanned the headlines as I did my cool down walk to home. I could not believe it.
I agree- Dolly did that song on purpose and with heart.

  3. Oh, yes! How easy it is to love that woman. I wonder if John Lennon ever met her. Two more soul mates.

    1. I wonder if they ever met too. Seems like it could have happened backstage at some awards show. Definitely two wise, wonderful souls.

  5. Can you imagine what John Lennon would think of our current circumstances?!

    1. I've actually pondered that. I sort of wonder if we'd be in the same place if he was still here. One never knows. The butterfly effect and so forth.
