Got The Whole World In My Arms

Owen made friends with the sling today. I got him in it and we made our maiden voyage to the Post Office to introduce him to Ms. Joanne. The boy loves to be outside. You know, he will be ten weeks old on Saturday and he is already starting to look at the chickens. I mean, really focus on them and it would appear to me- wonder at them. They look at him too but they are probably thinking, "Could we eat him?"

NO! I say. You cannot eat Owen.

We are learning each other, this guy and I. Right now he is in his little bouncy seat, trying to figure out how to get the thingees hanging down from it. Because he isn't quite aware yet that his fingers belong to HIM, this is not an easy task. But it will happen so soon. So very soon.

He went for his regular check-up yesterday and he is gaining well but is still in the 25th percentile of weight. Now length? 93rd percentile. Is he just like his granddaddy or what? Long and skinny boy. And the doctor was amazed at his ability to hold himself upright. He is strong! Again, just like his grandfather.

Okay. He is starting to fuss. I just wanted to report in. I could have washed the dishes but oh hell.

Reporting off....Gramoon.

  2. Cute! My daughter is one of those long skinny kids too. I should be so lucky. I'm more of the short non-skinny variety.

  5. Oh I love the slings, as long as they ride happy, you are free to move about in comfort, snuggling all the while. What a great picture of Gramoon and the boy and the egg. Perfect.

  6. I love reading your stories about Owen! I miss when my kids were small enough to carry in a sling. Oh, I could probably still hip carry Sylvie, but she just wants to be down down down. Enjoy it! I know you are.

  9. I'm glad you chose us over dishes.
I covet your porch, your Owen, your egg, your blue sweatshirt, but in a good, friendly way not in the wrong way the bible talks about (I think I heard something about that as a kid in church).

  12. The kids in our family are usually long and lean, too. Old Dog's g-kids, though, tend the other way, adorable little dumplings that they are.

  13. My mom always said that the dishes could wait. Friends and children couldn't. So I'm glad you checked in.

  14. Gramoon. I love that. And I always loved carrying my babies around all the time, either in a sling or a Baby Bjorn. Also always loved going for long walks with a baby strapped to me. The best.
