It Rained. Let's Dance

Friday. Mr. Moon has the boat pulled out of the GarageMahal and is getting ready to scrub 'er down. He was hoping that last night's rain would do the job for him but since the rain was not very heavy and since the rain had no bleach in it, he has to do it himself.
But it did rain.
I got out in the garden yesterday afternoon and finished up the weeding where I wanted to plant the zinnias and then worked in some chicken shit and planted the tiny winged seeds. I tucked them into the dirt and patted them down and a few drops of rain began to fall. Nice. I love zinnias. They are as important to my garden as potatoes, probably more so than squash. They come in crayon colors, they are simple, uncomplicated flowers with happy faces and they cut beautifully and I love to bring them in the house and put them a vase. They make me smile every time I pass by where they sit.
So it was lovely to get those seeds planted in a fertile, cozy bed and then I made a good supper and we ate it and the rain pattered down and it was still pattering when I went to bed.

It's been a long week somehow. A funny one here at blessourhearts. My throw-away post on Cher got me far more comments than anything I'd ever written with blood, sweat and tears which is hysterical. As DownTownGuy pointed out, it's easy to talk about Cher.
Then I got everyone riled up talking about birth. I did not mean to do that.
But there you go.
I put out the words and god only knows where they'll land, which part of the heart or funny bone they'll tickle.

Speaking of which, next week is my blog anniversary. Two years. I was thinking of having a little party. Like, maybe at the Black Dog, for you people who live here in the area. We could all meet up and say, "Hey! I'm Wrecking Ball!" "Hey! I'm HoneyLuna!" "Hey! I'm Magnum!" or DowntownGuy or Lady Lemon or whoever shows up. We could all get hypercaffienated and discuss blogs. I think it might be fun. Or weird. Imput? Somehow it would be more fun and easier for me to celebrate the blog which is mine, all mine, rather than my birthday which is somehow tied to other stuff like How I Met My Mom (on the day I was born) and so forth.

Tonight I'll be putting on my make-up and jewelry and going to play Natasha again. Last week, while I was getting ready, I took a before and after picture and was going to do an entire post on "Why Women Wear Make-Up" and it would only be those two pictures. I think I'll post them here now.

Looking at these I realize I should put on mascara and lipstick the minute I wake up instead of waiting until I need to go onstage.

So that's it. Friday morning. I must go get my baggy shorts out of the dryer so I can get ready for yoga where I can now do a wide-stance forward bend and rest my head so comfortably on the floor that I could probably fall asleep there. I'm old but I'm flexible.

Happy Friday, y'all.
Put on your lipstick.
All the world's a stage. Dress appropriately.

  2. I love the idea of a blog-day party! Keep me posted!

Also - makeup is a really magical thing isn't it? I could easily take similar pictures of myself with and without. It's kind of nice that we have that option, though, a pain in the ass at the same time.

Yea for rain (my plants were so ready for it)! Yea for Friday! I hope we both have a delicious weekend!

  4. Hahaha.. I LOVE the advice you give to us.. It is almost always double-sided and I think it's fantastic! "All the world's a stage." THANK YOU for posting and blogging, and some day.. maybe on next year's Blog Anniversary party, I'm gonna show up and be like, Hey.. I'm AJ! :)

  5. I admire you more and more Ms. Moon. That was very brave to post a photo without makeup. I would never dare do that. You are lovely either way.

Congratulations on you blogiversary. Wish I could meet up with you all, but I'm in Ohio, dammit.

Wishing you many blessings and many, many, more blog posts,

    SB

  6. AJ- And I'm gonna be all like, "Come here and let me hug and kiss you to death, you cute thing you!" That would be awesome.

Ms. Bastard- Why thank-you! It is brave of me to post such a misleadingly unflattering picture of me, isn't it? Oh well. What do I have to lose?

I posted a comment on the Rikki birth post, but I hit the wrong button and lost it, and ran out of energy to do it again.

  8. And I wish I could have been able to see one of the shows, but it would be very difficult to get off of work. I know you all did great. Tell everyone I said hello, and the baby is doing fine!

  10. I would totally love to go to your blog anniversary party at Black Dog! Let's do it!

And you know I think you look just as gorgeous without the make-up as you do with, although it is a little more flare and I think you should do it every once in a while to just have fun. Make Daddy take you on more dates! Haha.

  12. Ms. Jo- I would definitely love to see you there! And I would bake you the best sweet potato cake in the world! I swear! And yes, I know how you feel about the Ricki Lake movie. You Ina May reading girl, you.

Jon- Dammit! I wish you could come. Glad to hear the baby is doing well. Kiss Steph for me.

Ms. Bliss- Me too! And one of my daughters (honeyluna) took the zinnia picture a few years ago.

HoneyLuna- Maybe we will. I'll let you know. And yes, Daddy should definitely take me out on more dates. Maybe if I wore more make-up he would.

Steph- Haha! You're so sweet. Thank-you.

  13. I think that it's a great idea to have a get-together for your fellow bloggers in the area. I'd love to be able to meet up with the people I read about daily. BlogHer is going to be in Chicago this year, but I don't think I can pony up the dough for it. :(

Mascara is my number one make-up necessity. Otherwise, I look like I have no eyelashes!

  14. I am so down on getting together for your blog anniversary; sadly, Ffloyd is a long-ass way from Idaho. As for your words, well, the point for me to make people think-even if there is some level of controversy. So I say well done!

  15. I would totally rock that blog party, but stupid KY is too far. Road trip! :)

  16. Ginger, Kori, and SJ- God. It would be so much fun for us all to meet up. We would giggle all night long. Well, I would. Until at least midnight, anyway.
And I'd make biscuits for breakfast, I promise!

  17. Ohh, I want to read the post on why women wear make-up. I think that would be a wonderful topic. I spent my entire life (well from age 13 until recently) not even being awake for an hour before putting my make-up on. I added to it before bedtime and slept in it so I would presentable before I showered in the morning and reapplied. But something happened earlier this year and I just stopped wearing make-up. I have put it on maybe ten times in the last five months and I feel different. It is funny because it once defined me, made me feel pretty but now I have learned to love myself for other reasons and the make-up can't seem to compete.

  18. ehh, personally I prefer you in the first picture, i think you (and most people) are more beautiful without makeup. Why hide your unique and beautiful face by trying to look like some weird standard of what is "beautiful"? to me, super red lips and done up eye makeup and stuff just looks unnatural...

that won't stop me from piling on makeup tomorrow though.... :)

  19. Sarah- the entire post would have been those two pictures. I think it's very interesting that you have given up your "mask." Awesome. "Natasha" is a role in a play I'm in.

Ms. Eden-Who-Is-Getting-Married-Tomorrow: I would never wear that much make-up in real life. Only for the stage.
You are going to be so beautiful tomorrow. I can't wait to see pictures.
