Wherein We All Kiss Chickens

What a great Easter! Kathleen brought over the baby chicks and they are all named except for two, I think. Names so far are: Mable, HoneyChick, Suzie, and Bob. They are as soft as you'd think and as cute. They like bugs. We are so happy.
Can you imagine the way this blog is going to soar in popularity, now that I am going to be discussing chickens?
Oh. It's mindboggling. Simply mindboggling.

Here are the "children" with chickens AND eggs. We don't know which came first, although I personally think it was the dinosaur.

DownTownGuy with his traditionally decorated DownTownGuy egg.

Lily with Suzie. Lily always did want a chicken of her own. Seriously. Since she was about eleven. She planned on taking her pet chicken for walks with a little chicken harness. She's having to settle for a baby now but she can still come over and pet Suzie. If I get to hold the baby.

And finally, some of us at the table. Now everyone has gone home to take naps. Mr. Moon is working on the chicken coop. The chickens are asleep.
And my heart is very, very happy.

Soft baby-chick kisses to all. (That's Mable. I'm not sure she likes kisses. Too bad.)

  1. Now that you've given those chickens names, there's no way they're ever going to become chicken stew, so I hope they give you many, many eggs.
    Happy Easter!

  2. Nah. They're egg layers and pets. I figure it's about time I got a pet that gives something back. Dammit. I can even use their poop on the garden. It's a total win-win situation.

  7. tiffany- Yes. My porches are amazing. Lulabelle, eh? I sort of like that.

Abandoning Eden- Well, almost twelve hours later and all six chicks are still alive, so I give you my support.

    Learner- Yes. I certainly am.

Zelzee- No bunnies. There were supposed to be some but some dang grandchildren refused to let them go.

  8. Awwwwwe!! Everyone looks like they're having so much fun! Well, hard to tell about the chicks.. but everyone else seems to be.

I'm sorry we missed everyone. I know that Harley would have been bonkers to see the gang, and the chicks.

My wallet got resurrected, so we had to take a ride to the police station to get it. How about that for an Easter miracle? A police officer's wife found it in the street! whoa! I'll fill you in another time.

Happy chick and pretty egg day.

  9. Ms. Fleur- Now that IS an Easter miracle! Wow! I'm so glad you're back with your reborn wallet!
Okay- so new activity for Harley- catching live bugs for the chicks. Do you think he's up for the task?
You must bring him by to see them. They are, well- you just have to come see them.

  13. Yes... I believe he will be up to the task! Well, at least trying to be. I'm not sure how able he is to catch stuff yet, but he'll have fun trying.

Will be interesting to see if any of them grow up to be roosters. Guess there's no way to tell right now.

    very fun!

  14. That one chick running around trying to eat the big bug still has me cracking up.

  15. Ms. Fleur- Please have Harley catch small bugs and put them alive in a jar. And then he can bring them over and we will all roll with laughter, watching the tiny birds run around, catching bugs. It really is funny.

DTG- Big bug, little chick. But up to the challenge!

  16. I just can't get past the fact you have a candle in a box of straw with wee chickens...

  17. Gorgeous family!!! I look forward to hearing more about the chickens. :)

  18. XBox- Not a candle. A tiny little electric monkey lamp. I have no desire to burn down my house over a few baby chicks.

Steph- Ah. I think I have a very beautiful family. And you will, without a doubt, be hearing more about chickens.
