What Do You Believe In?

I confronted. I sent an e-mail in response to an e-mail. I got a phone call. I discussed. I held my ground.
I feel sort of like a grown-up.
And the world did not explode.
Although the wind is blowing in some northern chilly air. I feel fairly certain, however, that I did not personally cause this.

It's supposed to get down in the thirties here tomorrow night and they're calling for some "isolated areas of patchy frost." Whenever I hear that, I visualize these random, rectangular pieces of ground covered in what shows up in a non-self-defrosting refrigerator.
All I can say is that it better not freeze here. The pecan leaves are out which means the FREEZING IS OVER! Okay? The pecans do not lie. I have tomatoes the size of queen olives growing on my plants.
And we've moved my precious mango tree back outside which I started from a seed I got from a tree I used to eat mangoes from when I was a child in Roseland, Florida back when dinosaurs ruled the earth and gas was so cheap they paid you to fill your tank AND gave you free fine china AND checked your oil, water and belts AND cleaned your windshield. And said "Thank-you! Please come again," when you drove off.
So it better not freeze.
I mean, if you can't believe in the pecan leaves, what the hell CAN you believe in?

Oh. Wait a minute. You can believe in your own validity and the value of what you do. And you can defend that.
Hmmm...

  8. Nice work. You are an inspiration for change, dear.

I don't think the "freeze" was really frozen, but just the same I covered my little maters with sheets for the night.

You have a mango tree? Color me jealous!

  9. Never plant tomatoes before the Kentucy Derby.
Where I live, I can't plant them until Mother's Day or the Preakness, depending on whose advice I'm following that year.
