The 2025 photograph of a gecko on the screen at night.
Well I got my ass handed to me yesterday due to my words about Joe Biden. Let me explain right now, before we go any further, what I meant about wondering how his prostate cancer went from undetectable to Stage 4 so quickly when I would imagine (and no, I don't really KNOW) that a president of his age, especially, would be getting check-ups at least every six months and the tests they run routinely would almost definitely have involved a PSA test which measures the amount of prostate specific antigen in a man's blood and I believe (and again- I could be wrong!) that if that were the case the cancer would have been detected and diagnosed much earlier. A cancer can spread with frightening speed and some types of cancer don't show any symptoms until the disease is in its late stages but generally, prostate cancer is not one of those. I know it can happen but it is unusual.
I've now spent at least an hour trying to write how I feel about being told that none of this matters any more anyway because Biden is no longer president, but you're right. It doesn't matter. But you know what does matter? Being told the truth and I thought that truth was what the Democratic party was representing in 2024 and maybe, yes, it really was. But maybe no, it wasn't. Not entirely.
And that is all I will say about that except that none of this will do anything to denigrate what Joe Biden has done for this country. He has always been and will always be, an honorable man and a strong defender of the rights of ALL Americans. I respect him and I am grateful for his long service to us all.
May he live long enough to enjoy more time with those he loves and who love him because I know their number is legion and he deserves that.
So back to our regularly scheduled program which is pretty unexciting. I went to town today and Jessie and I went to Costco where I was able to get this picture.
Now that's two beautiful women if I've ever seen two beautiful women. Little bit of a height differential, isn't there? Jessie's shirt was, of course, unplanned but it sort of adds a note of humor to the picture although Beautiful Brenda is NOT a tiny human and don't you forget it.
Thank you, ladies for letting me take that picture.
We ate Pho for lunch and that was a good choice for me. It didn't take a whole lot to fill me up and I'm sure I've brought home enough for two more meals. Every time I eat Pho I always say the same thing which is, "This is SO good!"
And it is.
And it is.
On we went to Publix and that was fine. The lady bagging my groceries said something to me that almost made me weep. I'd just told Jessie that I was tired today and she asked if I knew why and I said, "Oh, I spent a lot of time outside yesterday and you know- it's just one of those days," and this lady said, "But you're still beautiful."
Sometimes human beings can be so very kind.
At home I picked beans again, thinking there weren't really that many.
Hahahahahahahaha!
Hahahahahahahaha!
And one little colored-up tomato.
I've made a soup, a sort of minestrone with, again, so many vegetables. Last night's salad was, dare I say it? Rather unbelievably good.
Vegetables are making me very happy and what could be wrong with that? I have had moments of hunger today, but that hunger was easily satisfied. There is real true physical hunger and there is the hunger for food that we think will calm us, will make us feel better, will soothe and distract us. These are entirely different things and to actually and truly feel this and experience this, is what I would call a sort of miracle.
Love...Ms. Moon
I agree that none of *this* can take away from Joe.....and just...Joe. I'm just sad for his family.... and can't/won't surmise further......he is a stellar human of the heart and always has been. And I get you on the different types of hunger. Since I lost hubby.....my appetite for food has almost disappeared...both physically....and emotionally......(since I was the one who planned and cooked). It's a whole different ballgame for me now.....not a fun one.....but a reality. I eat when I must....nutritional purposes mainly.....but I DO miss that *spark* that came with the nightly meal cooking very much. And....sitting down to a sparse and minimal dinner alone...is just.....well.......sigh. You understand

Dear Susan M, I'm so very sorry to hear that your husband has passed. I noticed you didn't comment as often and I missed your cheerful replys and .....'s (smile). My heart goes out to you.

Lovely family picture there!
ReplyDeleteOne last word about Joe: many doctors do not use psa testing on men over 70. Too many false positives because other ailments affect the results, and other medical reasons. Handsome partner's doctors told him years ago it was no longer considered useful past 70. Just fyi. Like colonoscopies for me after 75. Not useful unless symptoms appear.
ReplyDeleteOn to geckos, I love your picture. Also you!
Seems people aren't giving Biden and family the benefit of the doubt as the cancer diagnosis is an add on to the previous cover up. Will history treat Biden well, or has he tarnished his legacy by not just staying for one term?
ReplyDeleteJoe Biden has been one of our best! What he's going to be dealing with ... I wouldn't wish it on anyone! Everyone has an opinion, Mary! And, you know the rest of that line! LOL
ReplyDeleteI love Pho! We use to have a noodle/Pho place here ... no more!
What a great shot of your little lizard!
Jessie so tall and pretty! Brenda with her colorful eyes!

The shot of gecko on screen is fabulous ART indeed!
DeleteWe can only speculate on what went on with JB.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, it is interesting to read about what other people have to say, and your post stimulated the exchange.
Jessie and Brenda are looking very fine.
Your soup sounds delicious.
Jessie and Brenda are beauties. The gecko on the screen is fascinating. And I sure wish I had the art talent bc I would love to paint a still life of white basket, green beans, with tomato. Great photos today!
