Another Sleepover!

Tomorrow being Jessie and Vergil's 8th anniversary, we are hosting these two fine young men for tonight and part of tomorrow so that their parents can have some adult celebration time. We have pizza dough rising here and Boppy has clocked out of shelf building until tomorrow. He has been working all day on those shelves and soon, they will be ready to receive whatever it is I choose to put on them.

I am going to have to go buy some organizing baskets of some sort, as I've said, for things like my massive collection of furniture polish and lightbulbs, leather cleaner, and my museum-worthy assortment of flashlights and headlamps. Also cleaning rags, ant killer, wasp killer, packing tape, strapping tape, duct tape and measuring tapes. AND, all of my boxes of aluminum foil, parchment paper, wax paper, and every assorted type of ziplock bags known to mankind. This will be amazing because when we put the dishwasher in, a cabinet had to be sacrificed, and as Mr. Moon says, when we want a baggie, we have to stand on our heads to get one from the back of the cabinet where we keep the left-over containers.
I am going to be in high-cotton soon!

Anyway, that's the story for today and I better go start chopping things up for pizza. I asked August if he liked spinach on his pizza. He thought it about it for quite awhile and then said, "If there is cheese underneath it, I think so."
Again- a truism one could apply to many things. Out of the mouth of babes, and so forth. His mama didn't raise no fools.

I have to tell you that when the Weatherfords got here today, I had just woken up from a very nice little nap and August ran and jumped on the bed and hugged me up and Levon joined us and they unpacked their suitcase with the blankets and pillows I'd made them and the little sequined animals I'd gotten them for Easter. They showed me how soft and cozy their blankets and pillows were and my heart almost melted with the sweetness.

See you tomorrow.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. This all made me smile today! I see you have a little bit of rainbow in your new pantry/storage area! It's in the picture you posted!

    1. Yep. There's a prism hanging in the window of the bathroom opposite where the shelves are and at that time of day, there are rainbows everywhere!
It is the joy of my heart to get to spend time with my grands.

  2. Mr. Moon makes shelves just as my brother did. Master craftsmen, both. I miss my brother.
When you look for baskets, let me recommend cloth baskets. I bought very inexpensive ones from the dollar store going on ten years ago. They are in daily use, including being drug across a wooden shelf on their bottom to retrieve what is inside. Of course, I did paint the shelves green, in case that made them more slippery.

    1. Mr. Moon does beautiful work. As he told me when he asked me to marry him, he can fix cars and houses which are people's biggest expenses and thus, we would never go hungry. So far he's been right and I get the benefit, once in a while at least! of his carpentry skills. And auto repair skills too, actually.
The shelves are to be painted green! And I will keep that in mind when shopping for organizational vessels!

  4. I love that line: "As long as there is cheese under it..." You are one truly blessed grandma. And let me say one more time, I really love your porch.

  5. Ha! "As long as there is cheese under it" could definitely apply to most foods. Have a great time! I know you will!

(I think Mr. Moon should build a glass-fronted display case for your museum-quality collection of flashlights. :) )

    1. I mean- cheese makes it all good, right?
I'll tell Mr. Moon what you said about the glass front cabinet. I'm sure he'll get to work on that ASAP.

    1. and I have one of those plastic storage boxes that all the different glues and tapes go in. makes it very handy so we don't have to go searching the house for the last time it was used.

    2. Nope- no fronts. Just open shelves. That's how I want it. The man offered to build doors but I declined.
I'm going to have to do some shopping to find the sorts of bins and boxes and baskets I think I want. As crazy as it sounds, I am so excited to get this all organized!

    1. Yep! A huge amount of stuff. Now- I just have to remember not to find a need to fill them up with anything new. I have enough stuff already.

  9. I had to laugh about "as long as there is cheese under it". I was telling my grandchildren about a black bean and cheese burrito recipe I found and they said basically the same thing!

  10. Oh! What an onerous responsibility has been laden upon you! To look after those two naughty lads while their parents go galivanting about. How much are they paying you?

Actually, my pay is hugs, kisses, and excellent conversations.
