Time To Discuss The Stones A Little

I have zero pictures today. The sun shone zero times. I did zero laundry. However, I did gather eleven eggs and a nice basket of spinach. I worked on August's blanket which, at this pace, should be done before he gets his driver's license but not by much. I watched about three episodes of Call the Midwife.
Let me stop here. WHO THE HELL IS DOING THE MAKE-UP ON THAT SHOW?
I think it could be Donald Trump's make-up artist. Everyone has orange powder caked on their faces. Even the nuns. I'm sorry but English nuns should not have orange faces. Their faces should match their whatever-those-things-they-wear-on-their-heads are. You know- those white nun scarves. Especially nuns who are midwives because midwives spend a great deal of time indoors, waiting for babies to arrive.
Just my opinion.
I still love the show, though. They sure have covered a lot of ground on it throughout the years. Today's viewing included contraception for unmarried women, abortion, prostate cancer, Downs Syndrome, adoption, sex addiction and venereal diseases (those two went together), faith, fear, the Olympics, and probably a few other things.
I'll never forget the time I was watching and the doctor's son asked if he could go see the Rolling Stones play. This was jarring, but historically accurate as to time and place.
Those boys have been around a long, long time.

There you go. Of course, that's not really now. The "now" photo was taken a few years back. Here's the most recent picture I've seen of Keith recently.

I hope he's gotten his vaccine. I still hope he outlives me.

So. Let's see. What else?
Well, I'm going to make pizza tonight. Mr. Moon will be watching the Super Bowl, all by himself, poor thing. I couldn't watch that game if I tried. No, really. I just can't watch sports on TV. Maybe basketball. If I had to. Or someone was paying me.
A lot of money.

I just went down a little rabbit hole of watching the halftime show at Super Bowl 2006 because that was the year that the Stones played. It was pretty awesome. I'll never forget watching it here with our neighbors, including their daughter who was about ten at the time. She was really getting into it until they did a close-up of the boys' faces. "Why are they so OLD?" she asked.
Because they didn't die, would be the answer to that.

You can watch it here if you have any desire whatsoever.

Ah well. Obviously I don't have anything to really discuss of deep importance. Here's a picture I just took of the spinach and arugula which is going on the pizza which I better get off my ass to go make.

How pretty is that?
Some things are best at their freshest and newest and some things just get better and better with age.
You can quote me on that.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. After two days of back pain and ping meals, pizza sounds exotic. I hope you both enjoy it.

  2. We saw the Stones many, many years ago. I know it’s probably against the law, but we’re not their biggest fans. Second row, center. My husband had job connections and it was totally wasted on us. (I’m so sorry!) It was a nice night away from three small children, though. I could not believe how tiny Mick is! My thigh is bigger!
Negative temps tonight. The electric blanket is warming up, as i speak. I am so thankful for electric blankets! I worship the ground the inventor walks on!

    1. It's okay for you not to like the Stones. If you ever read Keith Richards' autobiography though, you might change your mind!
All those boys are tiny. They were blitz babies- food was hard to come by.

  3. OH LORD!! I want to make a grown man cry! That fixed me for the week. Jesus, they can not die EVER! How lucky I have been to be on the planet at the same time, how lucky to have seen them for real and taken my boy to a concert in Seattle. Blew his tiny little mind! Thanks , Mary!! perfect gift for the day.
    Your greens so green! Delish!

  4. 1. Even in 2006 they got bleeped twice.
    2. Guitar weaving between Keith and Ron.
    3. Mick Jagger will never, ever not be the essence of sex.
    4. Keith dipping down on a knee and rising up like it was nothing, like he was floating.
    5. Charlie Watts, coolest man on the planet.
    6. They are still alive.

  5. My husband could have seen the Stones live at his college in Leicester in the 60s, but he thought the price of the tickets was a bit high. He has regretted it ever since!!
I saw the Beatles in the early 60s but all the others girls were screaming the whole time so it was " saw" rather than " heard" . I was very cross ! Also, my boyfriend at the time met a girl in the overnight queue for the tickets and dumped me not long after !She was called Catherine! Why do I remember that?

    1. Were the tickets like ten dollars? That would have been high.
I had a friend who saw the Beatles. She was never the same after!
Who knows why we remember the things we do while forgetting what we had for supper last night? Jeez.

  6. You groupie you! I think I'm just a little too young for the Stones - they were more my older brothers and sisters kinda thing, although they all went to see the Beatles in concert. While I'm not particularly a fan of the Stones, credit where credit is due, they've got more energy in their little fingers than I have in my whole body!

    1. As I said to Debbie above, reading Keith Richards' book "Life" might change your mind. It certainly did enlighten me and gave me a vastly larger and renewed interest in the band and especially, Keith. Turns out he's really very special in many ways. And honest as the day is long.

  7. Never was a Stones fan ... couldn't understand a damned word they were singing ... and all that running around on tippy-toes on stage ... good drugs, honey! Good drugs!!
I can only imagine how extremely tasty that pizza was!!!

    1. I don't think the Stones are doing any drugs anymore. They did at first, of course. Keith most enthusiastically.
      The pizza was pretty good.

  8. Boulder Colorado, university campus, Rolling Stones. We got tickets but only to stand on the floor not a seat in the stands. But soon, after Heart opened, damn that was nice too, the stands all emptied onto the floor where there was dancing and singing, etc. I made my way up the stands to the very right of the stage. Totally awesome. And then Keith and I had a moment. He locked eyes with me and then pointed his finger directly at me. Soul to soul. I've never forgotten that moment. I was a kid then, compared to now, so was he.

    1. I saw them on that tour in New Orleans! I definitely did not have a Keith moment though. I sure wish I had. My husband had a moment like that with Bob Dylan though.
Lucky you, Tom! What a memory.

  9. Jeez you people in Florida harvesting things!!! I'm just starting to think about buying seeds and spreading compost.

I saw the Stones when I was 15 at the Syracuse War Memorial in 1965. They did "Little Red Rooster' and Mick shed his jacket and swung it around as he pranced on stage. It was so good, I thought I would swoon.

  11. I saw the Rolling Stones play at a concert in Milwaukee Wisconsin at the Milwaukee Brewer's baseball park long, long ago. I was in the seats way, way, way up - out past center field and the Stones were tiny, tiny dots on stage far, far away! It was cool but we celebrated a bit too much before the concert, I think, because it is a bit of a blur... :)

    1. Oh dear. I've done that pre-concert celebration thing myself. It does happen, doesn't it? At least you can say you saw them.

  12. never had the pleasure of seeing the Stones, though I am filled with fond memories of having seen Led Zeppelin, the Grateful Dead (not to mention BB King and Cat Stevens and Joan Baez). LOL! The Stones look (imo) better now, than EVER. And I know for a fact that your pizza was to die for!

    1. I've seen the Dead. Didn't ever see Zeppelin or Cat Stevens. Definitely saw Joan Baez and B.B. King at least four times. Plus a lot of other folks. I am lucky.
I think the Stones all look amazing! Keith, especially, has grown more beautiful with every year.
      The pizza was damn good.
