Morning Activities.

Here is a picture of Lon and Gibson and me from last night.
I could show you a million pictures but I am too discombobulated to do that, plus I don't think I've taken them. Lis took that one.

The first thing I saw when I got up this morning was Owen who said, "Good morning. Where's my breakfast?"
Oh Lord.
I keep saying that. "Oh Lord."
He also said, "We really high up!"
"I know," I said. "We're on a mountain."
He thought about that for a moment.
"I really am brave," he said.
He got his pancakes. Trust me. And he really is brave.

The little boys are having a fabulous time. The biggest boys (Lon and Mr. Moon) are off to do something like take down a birch tree and build a bower out of it. Jessie is with them, giving them direction. Everyone else is...oh hell. I don't know. Too much to keep up with.

I'm going to go help Lis in the kitchen. She doesn't really need me but I told her I'd pay her fifty bucks to just let me wash her dishes. I love that kitchen. I adore giant stainless steel sinks and counter tops and  bowls and pots big enough to prepare entire farm-loads of food in. I feel at home there.

There are two dogs which seem to have the run of the camp who come and visit sometimes. One is a giant chocolate lab named Tootsie Roll. I offered him an almond yesterday but he politely refused it. I think he would have eaten a pound of butter but I didn't give him that choice. The other dog is a smaller thing named Taco.
Why am I talking about dogs?

I have no idea.

Okay. I'm going to go put on some dishwashing clothes and walk across the field to the camp.

Good morning. It is a fine day in North Carolina.

Love...Ms. Moon

  3. Is the camp kitchen part of a real camp ground? I am fascinated and wonder if you or Jessie have been to LEAF. It is a music and arts festival near there.

  7. That looks like a sweet spot to be. Beautiful scenery, loved ones, a celebration and fabulous kitchen... which means fabulous food! (And of course adult beverages) What else is there? Really?

    My love to the gang.
