So Much Rain

About seven o'clock last night the sky finally birthed that rain baby it was so heavy with yesterday. It poured rain all night long and it was so lulling that both Mr. Moon and I slept far later than we usually do. I'd been having one of my truly funky dreams with a house so familiar I know it almost as well as my own but it is not a house I'd ever want to live in. I'm always taking care of many children in this house and there are rooms galore, most of them taken up with old appliances that do not really work, dirty laundry that would fill up all the machines in ten laundromats, a kitchen with no lighting, no real food in the refrigerators (there are many), and a choice of stoves that range from horrible to worse than that. And somehow in these dreams I must create order, protect and feed the children, and do something about the general filth of the place.

Obviously I am always grateful to wake up from these dreams and today was no exception. I was muzzy-headed for an hour after getting out of bed, trying to break the membrane of dream world, I guess.
And it was still raining.
I decided that I was going to take it easy today. Stay in, relax, enjoy myself. Which I did. I worked on the jigsaw puzzle for well over an hour. I lost track of time in searching for the right pieces. It's a mesmerizing activity, and an addictive one too, I think. At least for me. I am not good at it. I am neither a visual person or gifted in spatial abilities which are both important in doing puzzles. How long have I been working on this one? And this is as far as I've gotten.

I am almost certain that there are pieces missing. It was in an open box in the library for years on a shelf that the children frequently go through like little raccoons looking for goodies. I actually found one piece on the floor in there. But I'm not going to quit until I've used up every piece I have.

I also worked on replacing a buckle on a pair of overalls. Why they make the kind with an end piece is beyond me.

The little metal clamp that goes on the end inevitably breaks, rendering the buckle useless. I ordered some of the type that are just a simple loop at the end and have used most of them up, fixing overalls. As with purses, the hardware involved is of utmost importance.
As I used my seam ripper to undo the stitching on the strap to take off the old buckle and thread the new one through, and then started stitching it all back together, I watched a few episodes of the old series, "Parenthood." I've never seen it and have always heard it was very good and it has some excellent actors in it so why not? I think I'm going to like it.

It's raining again. I can just imagine my beans swelling up, ready to burst with tiny green bean shoots. It's supposed to get down into the forties tonight, and thirty-three tomorrow night! WHAT? I sure hope our tomatoes don't freeze. They won't if it doesn't get colder than that.

Here's what my dripping roses looked like this morning.

Dripping roses, dripping noses.
We are still wondering how in the world two people can create so much snot. My sneezes are legendary. Or should be. Every time I sneeze and almost blow the top of my head off, I think of Lis and how her sneezes sound like something a kitten would produce. She is SUCH a lady.
And yet, at the same time, a far badder bad ass than I will ever be.

Only time will tell.

Big love...Ms. Moon

  1. The man says he expects he will be arrested on that day. I also read the indictment is based on pretty thin law. Sounds fishy to me. I think it's a made-for-TV event.

  2. I don’t think he’ll be arrested just arraigned. He won’t spend one minute in jail, in my opinion. If his crazy supporters show up, i hope the police are ready, locked and loaded this time. It’s time to play hardball with all of them.

    1. There will be no orange jumpsuit, I am thinking. Fucking damn hell. BUT, this could lead to more.
I doubt his minions are brave enough to show up with any sort of real force to protest this if it does happen.

  3. no he won't be arrested. All hype fodder for the media...... darn them and he's trying to whip his *people* into a frenzy. What else is new? Ugh. Dripping roses and wisterias are lovely.....and rain does make for the best sleep (aside from the dream). I think you are doing well on your puzzle! I have some that take 6 weeks to finish....if not longer.

    1. As the article I linked said, "If he is not at the center of things, he is dead."
I am truly enjoying doing this puzzle. I think. It may just be some sort of brain-reward system that triggers my serotonin impulses.

  4. I agree with Joanne. If it sounds too good to be true well then....Glad you are getting some rain, a little is bliss too much -not so much. My sewing machines are ready to pick up, and sew...

I'm still in the blissful phase of rain.

  5. Okay and thanks. I have read the well-considered New Yorker article. Seems like the Stormy Daniels indictment is not the one that will cause Trump the greatest loss of blood. His brass-necked attitude to legal processes shows that he has little respect for the laws of the very land he reputedly led for four years.

    1. He cares nothing for laws. Nothing. Especially as applied to him. It is somehow fitting that even though this will not be the case that sinks him, it is one of the most sordid. Well, I guess. With Trump that's a pretty low bar.

  6. I'm glad you're enjoying the puzzle. It took me a while to get into them but now I like having one going, no rush to finish

An indictment is not an arrest. I wish it were. I'm very ready to see him on trial.

  7. Re: Trump. I don't know if he will be arraigned next week or not. However, one thing is for sure, if it were anyone else but him that person would have been in custody long ago.

  8. I am sorry that your country is still dealing with the orange plague. It is worse than the snot fest you have going on at your house.
Heavy rain is so calming. I wonder what deeply seated archaic memories it triggers.
I am so missing puzzles. I think I need to rig up a cat proof puzzle board.

I have been thinking about you and the need for a puzzle surface the cats can't bother. I am sure your woodworking husband could come up with a design and build you one.

  9. The announcement of Thing 45's pending arrest is his way of getting ahead of the press and getting the word out to his MAGATS to protest if he does get arrested! Thing 45 made the announcement on his Truth Social platform so his obedient followers would be sure to get the message!
MSNBC was quite thorough in pointing out the whole thing hyped by the Orange Asshole himself!
We can only hope it comes true!

  11. Oh please, let Trump be arrested, the sooner the better.
Parenthood is a series? I have only seen the movie with Steve Martin, Mary Steenburgen and a young Keanu Reeves, also Diane Weist a favourite of mine.
I'm wondering if I should have another go at beans, my first batch got eaten to death by "critters" of the crawling kind, maybe it is too cool for them now and beans would do better.

    1. Yes! They made a very popular series from the movie. I loved that movie.
Why not try beans again? Might as well.

  12. Oh my word, I think we could be twins! I have the same recurring dream (although only occasionally now) but I'm in what could be a beautiful house but that is so run down it's going to take years to do up. Filthy and dangerous because of lack of banisters etc. AND there are always chidren that I have to protect and general chaos everywhere - too many people, too much muck!!! Like you I'm glad to wake up. I wonder why we have these dreams! And also like you, when I sneeze they reroute Geneva's air traffic!

    1. Who knows why we have those dreams? Houses that are unsafe and horrible where we live with lots of children must be a fairly common dreamscape, I guess. I could surely live without it.
You made me laugh with your air traffic comment.

  13. Jigsaws are a great time waster. I always have one on the go. I sat down to " waste" 10 minutes the other day, and somehow over half an hour was gone!

    1. You have to get into a certain mind set to do them, I think, and once you're there, it is very hard to just stand up and walk away. "One more piece..."

  14. Arrest him on Monday! Make him do the perp walk! Oh, Mary, on another note, I went in search of the cherry tomatoes you raved about. Mr. Publix came through for me. They are the sweetest tomatoes I’ve ever put in my mouth!!

    1. Oh, Catrina! I'm so glad you liked the tomatoes. If you have a Costco nearby, buy them there. They are so much cheaper.

  15. He won't be arrested. He is beyond dreadful at this point but still won't be. All of this inflammatory talk is really something else, though, isn't it? I can't imagine how stirred up these mindless supporters of his are getting.

    1. I really can't imagine that his supporters are still such rabid believers in him. I suppose that I am just not in touch with that element of the population.

  16. He will not be arrested. He's just rounding his base up. If anyone has any doubt about his orchestration of Jan 6th, they need to look. He's doing an encore, right here, right now. I would not be surprised to hear him parrot Groucho Marx: "Who ya gonna believe? Me or your own eyes?"

  17. He thrives on attention and I do not want him to thrive so I really want to ignore him. Goodness gracious, when will he go away?!
Your puzzle looks great - a person shouldn't rush a jigsaw puzzle. It's a lazy day project so take your time!
    I love a big sneeze!

I am very much enjoying this puzzle.
I like a good sneeze too but I will admit and confess that my bladder is not what it used to be. What can I expect? I'm 68 years old and have had four children.
      Sigh.

  18. We got some rain, not nearly enough but it is still cold wet and gray, fortunately the wind finally died down. I'm wondering if my potato pieces rotted since this cold wet weather came two days after I planted them. as for Trump, I think he will be indicted but not arrested, they'll let him turn himself in. according to his screeds the US is a third world country, people are freaking out about the violence to come if he indicted/arrested but I don't think that will happen as so many from J6 are either in jail or waiting for their court dates. and he doesn't control response from law enforcement now like he did on J6.

    1. I bet your potatoes are safe and snug in the ground.
Your point about Trump not being in control of law enforcement is a very good one. And heartening. I suppose we'll see this week what happens.

  19. The NYT speculated that if/when Trump gets arrested, we may not get the satisfaction of seeing him in handcuffs or kept in a holding cell. Apparently because he has Secret Service protection he may get special treatment for security reasons. Alas! Still, an arrest is an arrest. I hope he at least gets the orange jumpsuit to match his tawny skin.

I always get nervous when temps get into the low 30s even if a freeze isn't predicted. I'm sure your tomatoes will be fine, though.

I think you've made pretty good progress on your puzzle, with all those interchangeable floral pieces!

    1. Alas indeed! Oh, seeing him in handcuffs AND an orange jump suit would be a highlight of my life.
Well, the weather widget is now saying we're going to get down to 32. I am not thrilled about this.
There are a LOT of flowers in that puzzle.
