First off, I apologize for being so unfaithful when it comes to answering comments. I just seem to be running late every evening which is not a good reason because I spend at least an hour every day doing crosswords but that's always scheduled for a different time of day, you understand.
The Holy Schedule Must Be Obeyed.
Not really and I'm going to do better. I love comments more than wisteria and that's the truth. And I can't help it- I do love wisteria, even if it's a horrible nuisance and will probably take over the world or at least my tiny part of it. Comments are not a nuisance at all.
Here's why I'm rushed tonight:
Two fine lads who probably need to eat their chicken and dumplings before 8:00 p.m. They are quite happy to be here, watching TV with their Boppy. I made them popcorn for a snack so they are not starving but I hear they both got up early this morning and will need to get to bed at a reasonable hour. I have cooked the chicken in the broth with garlic but I have to cut up the vegetables and cook them now, and then make the dumplings.
Here you have the carrots I will be slicing up.
Don't worry. They have now been washed. I do not peel my garden carrots but just scrub them well. It has not been a good year for carrots which is sad. And this is the first year that I really consciously thinned them appropriately. It may well be that carrots enjoy being squished between their fellow carrots. Anyway, we have certainly enjoyed the ones we've gotten.
It is finally raining and supposed to be cooler tonight for which I am grateful. I can open some windows and turn off the damn AC.
All right. I best be getting into that kitchen and whipping up a tasty and nutritious supper for the men-folk. All ingredients for purple cows are at the ready. I hope that Levon is not disappointed that I will not be serving creme brûlée. I also hope that Levon does not get up before six a.m. Jessie says that they threaten him with the punishment of NO TV unless he stays in his room until 6:30. I better go find a clock somewhere and plug it in so he knows what time it is, as this sounds like a fine solution to the problem. Of course, I am hoping for a few snuggles in the morning before I wake his grandfather and tell him to get up with this child.
Happy Friday, y'all.
Love...Ms. Moon
Have you actually made him creme brûlée, or is he just hoping. And hopping. Ha. They do look ready to go.
ReplyDeleteI told them about it a few weeks ago and Levon asked if they could please have that for dessert next time they had a sleep over instead of purple cows. I didn't forget but I didn't make creme brûlée. I wonder if Levon forgot.
DeleteThey're suddenly looking so much older and grown-up. What a marvelous thing to have grand parents to visit and get favorite foods and playtime. Lucky boys.
ReplyDeleteThey seem to enjoy themselves. And they ARE getting more grown-up. It sort of hurts my heart.
DeleteA perfect way to spend a Friday evening.
ReplyDeleteCreme Brulee oh yum. Maybe next time.
I'll make it for them one of these days.
DeleteHave a lovely visit with the boys. I've always wondered what is in a purple cow, so I looked it up. I'm guessing it tastes better than it sounds.
ReplyDeleteIn our house it's just sherbet, grape juice, and ginger ale. Mr. Moon adds M&M's because he wants to.
Delete"The Holy Schedule Must Be Obeyed" Damn straight! any deviation from mine which is not planned at least a day ahead has me flapping like a chicken and wondering where the day went!
ReplyDeleteThose are some fine looking carrots. I am also making soup later today. But no carrots and no dumplings. Or maybe a few small dumplings.
I love the well used squishiness of your couch, my chairs will get to that point eventually, but they are only five years old and used only by me, so it will take a while.
That couch has indeed achieved supreme squishiness. Never in a million years would I have picked out a leather couch but it IS the Glen Den and so... That's what he wanted.
DeleteMy DIL was telling me just this week that my little grandson (a human marmot) isn't quite so "marmotty" now on the weekends but at least since he's now in a big boy bed he just comes and climbs into bed with them - although obviously any sleep after that is then over!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh yes. Once they're in bed with you, forget it. You are awake. Little wiggly things.
DeleteI always peel carrots because the skins of those that are commercially produced are known to absorb pesticides and herbicides but I guess that if you have grown them in your own garden (American: yard) you don't need to worry.
ReplyDeleteNice to hear about you slaving away in the kitchen while the men folk do important men folk stuff like watching TV.
Small correction, Mr. P. - in American what we call a garden is where we grow flowers or vegetables. So, yes, I grew those carrots in the garden. Which is. part of our yard. It is rather confusing, isn't it?
DeleteWhen I buy organic carrots at the store I sometimes don't peel them either.
What a fun visit! I bet they are always so excited to come for a sleepover at your home.
ReplyDeleteThat wisteria is so beautiful - it can't be so bad, can it?
How can anything that gorgeous be evil?
DeleteThey do indeed get excited to come and spend the night.
oh, creme brulee. probably my favorite dessert. wisteria! I do love it too. I am determined to send all day today and tomorrow in the garden getting it in.
ReplyDeleteyou are so good about answering comments and I am so bad. so bad that when I do people probably don't even know it.
Same for me as to creme brûlée. The Best.
DeleteDid you get your garden in? Or at least some of it? Tell us what you're planting.
Beautiful lads. How is August feeling now post surgery? Is there anything better for grandkids than congenial time spent at their grandparents B&B? My kids certainly didn't think so! The memories you are making, you have no idea how they will gird your little ones. It's a magnificent thing for me to witness, with my mother now gone. She lives on, is so present, in the minds and hearts of my children.
ReplyDeleteThe poor child is well and truly sick again! Rosemarie, I just don't know. And Jessie is at her wit's end.
DeleteI love knowing that your kids remember so fondly their time with their grandmother. I hope with all of my heart that these babies remember their time with us that way too.
I remember waking up ridiculously early as a kid and not understanding why my parents didn't want to get up too! Funny how kids are.
ReplyDeleteI'm behind on comments too. There are only so many hours, but I'm trying.
Kids are like, "Whoa! Day! Must get up and get started!"
DeleteWhat is WRONG with them?
