Here we have the what-did-Ms. Moon-make-for-supper-last-night feature. I am proud of this one. I made the pizza from the crust up and it has a bunch of our peppers, both bell and clown, sliced very thinly, onions, mushrooms, some of our tomatoes, black olives and the proper cheeses. We ate it with little dribbles of pesto on top that I made yesterday from some of the basil crop.
Was it good?
Oh yeah.
I was so afraid when I started taking Zepbound that I would lose my interest in cooking and in food in general but that has not turned out to be true. It was at first, a little bit anyway. Not anymore though. I just eat less of foods I still love to make and eat.
Dreams CAN come true.
Another day of rain here in Lloyd and in the entire area for that matter. Another day of being relatively inert which does not suit me well. Of course I could have spent it doing something like scrubbing mildew off walls but where's the fun in that, I ask you? I worked on my puzzle some which led me to a bit of despair in that this is going to take me forever. My brain just does not function visually and spatially the way it should in order to do jigsaw puzzles. So why do them?
Well, good question. I get very caught up in them. Time passes in a different manner. I can sit down, begin to concentrate, and before I know it, an hour has passed in which time I've probably found five pieces to fit in.
Sigh.
Perhaps I feel like this is good for my brain. Sometimes I feel like all of that advice about doing crosswords and things like that to prevent dementia is a bunch of malarky.
Now there's a word you don't hear very often these days. But it's a good one.
Really, though, who cares if it takes me a year to finish this puzzle? Or a year and a half? Or whatever. There are no jigsaw puzzle police who are going to come and arrest me if I can't finish it in the approved amount of time. I have no teacher grading me. So I'll just enjoy it as it goes. Especially on my new puzzle board which continues to delight me.
So, one of my dear and darling nursing school ladies sent us all a picture that had been taken twenty years ago when we'd all gotten together at Weeki Wachee Springs with our children. My kids were already grown but theirs were all still young things. But the picture made me laugh.
Look at what I was wearing. Cargo pants and a black tank top.
Here's what I was wearing when I got the picture.
I do believe that in the picture from 20 years ago, I was wearing women's linen cargo pants, not men's cotton cargo pants.
Whatever.
And for fun, here's a picture of all the kids together.
Actually, one or two are missing there, including May who had also come with us. Lily and Jason were newly married, I think.
Here's what Hank remembers from that trip in response to Jessie saying she had no memory of it: Really? We all went down and stayed at the motel right across from weeki wachee. I think we also ate supper in a restaurant next to a monkey island.
Yes. Exactly. And this makes me feel better because the kids are always talking about things from their childhoods and I'm like, What? Are you sure that happened?
Anyway, we four ladies are planning our this-year trip. We can't afford to waste a year these days. Not with time flying the way it does and the fact that we all realize we do not have all the time left in the world.
So that was a fun little skip down memory lane.
Here's something I've been meaning to show you for awhile.
That's a red emerald philodendron, I think. I made a cutting of one I had and rooted it and then stuck it in that very, very small pot.
I may have fertilized it once. I water it when I remember. And look at that dang thing! I bet if I stretched it out it would be over ten feet long. And here's the thing- the plant I made the cutting off of is on the porch, getting a little more light, but not too much light, in a pot far more appropriate as to size and it looks like death hungover.
What can I say?
That's about it from me today.
Oh! I haven't shared a picture of everyone's favorite (increasingly) insane orange cat recently so here's one for you.
For the first time in weeks she came and slept with me last night and was still there when I got up. She stayed right there for hours and who could blame her?
Oh, the Weatherfords made it home last night! Hurray! And they've had a good rainy day to get things done inside which no doubt needed doing.
I myself will try to do something more interesting tomorrow.
No promises, though.
Love...Ms. Moon

Love the pics of you back then and now! I’m not sure my cutting of Phil the philodendron will make it, everything was really baked, but had water on its roots for the trip. Several others look great though. Oh Maurice, what a sweetie pie…when she wants to be. Pizza queen…and you grew so much of the toppings! Have a great week ahead!
ReplyDeleteJust stick Phil's roots back in water and see if it can resurrect!
DeleteMaurice is a crazy-ass mess but she still charms my heart.
That was not a bad pizza.
I’m visiting my daughter and her family in Jacksonville. The heat is brutal for this northerner. Ack! So much sweat.
ReplyDeleteYou look like Charlie’s Angels in that first photo. I love that you stay connected.
So much sweat. You're right. Charlie's Angels? That's great! Nah. We were just some nursing school friends who, at that point, were all mamas.
DeleteWe have an incredibly strong connection. I am blown away by the strength of it every time we get together.
Nice family photos, both of them, because those girlfriends are family after all these years. The pizza looks delicious and Murice looks far too peaceful.
ReplyDeleteMalarky is a great word.
They ARE family, River. You are exactly right.
DeleteMaurice's looks are misleading, the pizza's looks were definitely not.
I need to look up the word "malarky" and see how that one came about.

ReplyDeleteGuuurl, that pizza looks scrumptious!! I know there are a myriad of reasons Glen Moon keeps you around but surely your cooking is HIGH on that list! I too wish I had a wife that can cook like you do!
ReplyDeleteThe photo of your almost identical outfits, 20 years apart, did make me LOL! I find myself doing the same. Often when I find clothing or shoes I love I will buy multiples to put away bc they might stop making it!..We like what we like!
And may I add, you are aging quite gracefully. (a wee thank you to zepbound and all that weeding you do!)
Angie D
Well, it is nice to cook for someone who appreciates it. I love cooking for Glen.
DeleteWe do like what we like and also, I like to say that my style sense is classic and timeless. Haha!
Zepbound. A miracle drug.
Pizza is my favorite and yours looks so incredibly good! I loved the two photos of you spanning 20 years wearing similar outfits. It is so great that you've kept up with these ladies.
ReplyDeleteI have a philodendron in a tiny little pot on a window sill that gets very little light. I hardly ever remember to water it, and it is thriving too!
I think philodendrons are definitely a plant that loves being ignored. Maybe it's like a stubborn child who insists she can do it HERSELF!
DeleteAs I said to Debbie above, our connection was and still is incredibly strong. It still amazes me.
You know, we are who we are from the beginning and don't really change as we age. I've been wearing blue jeans and t-shirts since I was 18 and that's still what I wear. Somewhere along the line I added skirts for summer because I couldn't find shorts for my skinny body that didn't have pant legs big enough for both my legs to fit in. Most recently I've adopted knee length leggings because the cargo shorts I have are too tight in the waist thanks to the extra pounds I've put on.
ReplyDeleteI did not realize how short Hank is. I knew he was short but somehow that picture really shows it. Don't he and Lily have the same father?
Yeah. My legs are skinny too. I guess that's not the worst thing in the world. I don't think I could deal with the leggings- no pockets!
DeleteI highly recommend the Target brand Goodfella's men's cargos. Very sturdy. Excellent pockets.
No, Hank and May's dad is the ex. The guitar player. Lily and Jessie are Glen's bio-kids.
Yeah, the no pockets thing is a problem but they are just so damn comfortable.
DeleteThe jigsaw-puzzle police -- ha! I love the picture of you and your nursing school pals, and of course the one of all the kids too. It's funny that you're wearing the same outfit, though I suppose I'm still wearing pretty much the same things as I was 20 years ago. Heck, I even have some of the same actual articles of clothing!
ReplyDeleteMe too! Vicky sent another picture of us all a year later and I was wearing a skirt that I still have and still wear. It's in great condition. Now T-shirts can definitely lose their structural integrity.
DeleteThe pizza looks outstanding and likely better than any store-bought pizza. Nice photos! You look the same MM and it is great that you stay connected with your nursing friends.
ReplyDeleteWell, the pizza pleased us well enough.
DeleteI definitely do not look the same but in some ways I certainly am the same.
I'm fixated on that delicious-looking pizza. After a week on a liquid diet due to my molar extraction, I would literally kill someone for a slice. Good thing there's the internet between me and it.
ReplyDeleteA week after a molar extraction? What the heck? I've only heard 24-48 hours although your situation may have involved extenuating circumstances. I'd send you a slice if I could!
DeleteMaurice is certainly (not) the favorite cat.
ReplyDeleteYour photos of beauty you are like time standing still.
That pizza is the best thing I have seen today! I fell face first into my screen.
Maurice looks so content sleeping there with you. And that Pizza, is a thing of Beauty, you should be proud of it.
ReplyDeleteThe photo fashion comparison is hilarious. From linen to cotton, and you used to have shoes! Great vintage photos. That pizza looks sensational!
ReplyDeleteSome philodendrons like to be rootbound. Some people seem to thrive on it too..like you and your gals!
ReplyDeleteThis post just now showed up. They're arriving in random order. I hear you on wearing the same things forever. Me too. So simple.
