Hibiscus from Glenn's potted plants. Glenn is the man from whom we rent.
And as I have said many times, I love him dearly.
I've made a list, an actual list of things I want to do while I'm here. One of the items was to visit McKee Botanical Gardens which used to be McKee Jungle Gardens when I was a child. I have written about this place before. Do a search up there on the top left corner if you feel the need.
And today, we checked that off my list.
Pictures.
And then, on to what we had hoped would be lunch at the Ocean Grill. This did not turn out to be. The kitchen closed seventeen minutes before we arrived.
Sigh.
I do not want to even discuss the restaurant we ate at instead.
But.
The Atlantic Ocean.
Back home.
Florida. I fucking love you.
Ms. Moon

The stump is amazing and so is the Atlantic. And everything else in between, except that closed restaurant.
ReplyDeleteStunning photos. Keep 'em coming.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos...so different to anything in UK!
ReplyDeleteI love those gnarly old trees that look like arthritic hands or monsters' legs. I could spend days looking at them. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteSo much h to see. The idea or orchids just growing wild is not new to me, but still when it see pictures of that I do get the tiniest thrill. Every time.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSo many wonderful things to look at in your photos of McKee Botanical Gardens but the photo that fascinates me the most is the shot of the amazing light-and-dark-green variegated foliage!
ReplyDeleteNow THAT is a Florida botanical garden! I would love a garden where I could plant my houseplants outside and they would thrive! (Maybe a little too much, like some of the plants around your house. :) ) Too bad they couldn't leave the 2,000-year-old cypress tree standing, so we could marvel at it alive.
ReplyDeleteBummer about the Ocean Grill. But at least you're there for multiple days! Will you have another chance to go?
Spectacular! And it must have been so exciting to see Big Foot at the gardens!
ReplyDeletesuch lush beauty and history everywhere. I am in awe. And I trust that gorgeous lemon yellow/crimson hibiscus of Glenn's.....might become inspiration for your pottery? yes?

The botanical garden is beautiful. A real treasure.
ReplyDeleteEverything seems to grow well in the FL warmth.
I don't think I've ever seen the Atlantic Ocean. In person I mean.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw orchids growing outdoors in Florida, I thought I'd never get over it! My neighbor Gary commented on his last trip to Florida, that all the yards were full of houseplants.
