There Is A Shell For You

Sometimes I am a contrary bitch. I suppose if your name is Mary and all during your childhood people recited, "Mary, Mary, quite contrary/How does your garden grow?" you might end up being contrary.
Or, possibly I was just born this way.
However, the contrary Mary came out yesterday when I got comments about how the puzzle looked curved on the left side when it truly was not. The curtain in the picture curves, creating a sort of optical illusion I suppose, but that edge is as straight as a ruler. And it was yesterday, too.
I spent way too much time on it today and finally figured out my problem at the top left of the puzzle. I had two edge pieces switched which completely threw off an entire section but now it is as it should be. I never seem to learn the lesson that if there is the least resistance in putting two pieces together, they are not meant to be together.
Please note: Relationships are not like that. Not at all.

It's been a tough day for me and I'm sure that Mr. Moon is counting down the minutes before he can get on the road to Nashville and leave his constantly sad wife behind.

I wrote a whole long screed about how low I've felt today and then I deleted all of it because it was so ridiculous. Be grateful. You have been spared.

But here. A gift. Joni Mitchell singing "Blue." This song has been keeping my head above water since 1972.

It's Friday y'all.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. Oh yes... Joni singing "Blue". Such humanity, such poetry, such vulnerability. Echoing through the past 55 years. Balm for the soul.

  2. Sometimes I am a bitch too. ha. It's getting worse. So I get that. Anyway. I suck at puzzles because of the concentration part, and yours is halfway done! That shell is quite covered in barnacles. Those are barnacles, right? Not sure... Feel better. Sorry it was a bad day. -Nicol

    1. OK, your puzzle is 1/3 done. But, I've had puzzles sit around for a very long while with barely the outer edges (and I don't finish them), so I think 1/3 is quite notable. ha. -Nicol

    2. I believe we are all bitches at one point or another and well we should be. Men can be bitches too and that is a fact.
      Yes. Those are barnacles.

  3. That's a lovely Shell. I don't have the patience for Puzzles but many people do find them Calming, I can't concentrate enuf to do them so it would just frustrate me to try to focus enuf to do one and I'd lose interest and focus really quickly. I can handle those Puzzles they make for a
Toddler. *LOL* Lately I feel unable to emotionally regulate that well, I think there's just so much going on and it impacts us in ways we don't even really understand and yet do notice.

    1. Every day. EVERY DAY, another piece of the world we know falls away. Things we never thought could happen here or anywhere, really, are happening and at such a rate that we can't even keep track of them. I believe this is all more than our psyches can take in without doing damage to our neurological systems and to our very souls.

  4. My puzzle is still in the box. But bad news today is getting between me and doing anything about it.

  5. Joni M.'s "Blue" resonates the elusive inner peace and tranquility we all seek to accomplish. Wonderful songwriting and music. No surprise she was once at the top of the charts. All very relatable.

    1. I wore that album OUT when I was eighteen. My heart and soul were broken and I needed that music more than I can say.

  6. Joni Mitchell's "Blue" album is my favourite one of hers. Looks like there are lots of cats in that jigsaw, judging from what you've got done so far, and may I say that HRH approves.

  7. I think maybe the camera angle is what caused me to see a bow in the left side, which I now see is straight, I didn't even notice the curtain yesterday.
I can't listen to Joni Mitchell, I've never liked her music and I don't think we heard much of it way down under the equator.

    1. I think you may be the first person I've ever heard say that she can't stand listening to Joni Mitchell. Honest to god. I am sure there are others who feel the same way but I've never heard one.

  8. Being a " puzzler" I could see that the left edge was straight, and knew that it would be just one piece out of place at the top......it happens! Really love that jigsaw.......must see if I can find it online!

    1. I knew it had to be a piece on top too, I just couldn't figure out where it was.

  9. PS. Yes I found it on Amazon, but it is £24.99. !! I normally pay £4 at most for my puzzles so I won't be sending for it!

    1. I am pretty sure I got that puzzle on ebay. It still wasn't cheap but far less money than brand new. And it's given me months of pleasure so there is that.

  10. I was surprised by the reactions to the left side of the puzzle. Impossible to judge from that. As for Blue, thank you. Me, too! I want to have fun, I want to shine like the sun.

  12. I guess I didn't pay attention to the puzzle, I had to go back and see what the brouhaha was about. Looks straight to me. I love jigsaw puzzles. I think I've said that before. Can't get one out unless I don't have anything else to do because I will sit there until it's done. Hope you are feeling better today.

    1. I WILL finish a jigsaw puzzle but it won't happen very fast. It is addicting, isn't it? One more piece, just one more piece...oh wait! This piece goes over there! And so it goes on and on.

  13. Oh, I knew the puzzle edge was straight and I knew you would figure out which pieces you needed to switch. Hope you have a good weekend and all of your pains go away. xo

  14. There are days and situations where being bitchy and contrary is the perfect state of mind. It clears up the cobwebs in my muddled mind for me and makes way for calm, eventually.
Hope it does that for you too

    1. And sometimes I think we have to be bitchy to get a point across when all of the other types of communication have not worked. You just have to turn the volume up to ten to be heard.

  15. Sometimes we're thought to be biches for speaking simple truth someone doesn't want to hear, or for clarifying our boundaries. And sometimes we're just bitchy and need a snack and a nap and maybe a dry diaper - speaking for myself here.

Joni Mitchell nut here, since age 15. My son Emil is too, since he was in the womb. She had a show of her paintings in Saskatoon when he was about six, so I took him. He was determined to meet her, and I made it happen. She was lovely and sweet to him.
