We're Home

And it was every bit as magical and lovely and fulfilling and fun and heart-rendingly joyful as I wanted it to be. Please- do you see that picture? That is what I saw when I woke up every morning. How could it have been otherwise?
Ah yah.
It's ten forty-three p.m. on a Saturday night and we've been home about two hours and we've come into our clean house (oh, May and Jessie- thank-you so) and the frogs are courting so loud out back that it's almost deafening and Mr. Moon and I have gone outside to check on our chickens (they're so big!) and stroked them in their sleepy stupor (they're so soft!) and my house is so lovely and it's warm and moist here, just like Cozumel, and May put beautiful flowers in the house to welcome us home and the airline lost two of our bags but that's okay and Lily is so beautiful and I felt her little boy kick tonight on the way home from the airport and I have a hundred pictures and a thousand stories but it's late and it's been a long day.

And part of me is still there, you know. As May so wisely said tonight, the biggest culture shock is always coming home.
Amen.
I feel like maybe in a parallel universe I am living under the name of Maria Luna in a casita in a jungle with avocado and mango trees and chickens, too, and that blue water is down a white sand road and this silver moon is shining over all of us.

Yes. That is how I feel.

Last night I went to bed with the sound of the Caribbean sea meeting the shore in noisy greeting and tonight I will be going to bed with the sound of frogs croaking out their yearning and their joy with the recent rains. And as I think I may have said before, here, there, all perfect and made so because this man was there last night and he will be here tonight. In our own bed, in our own world, but make no mistake about this- there are many worlds and I am so lucky to have known a few with that man by my side as he was on my birthday, my perfect fifty-fifth birthday and thank-you all for all the comments which I cannot finish reading tonight but will tomorrow and I love you all for so many birthday greetings and wishes.

Yes. Lots of legs. But there you are and there we were and that's the man I love in a place I love and now we're home, another place I love which is good because it is the place we live which makes me the luckiest woman on earth.

I woke up dreaming about you this morning. We were in a photographer's studio with Mr Moon. You knew just the angle for your face.

  7. Welcome home Senora Maria Luna and Senor Luna. You were missed. Next time you want to leave we need to get Hank to figure out how to do some kind of warp field or SciFi something so that you feel like you are gone as long as you want, and we feel like you are only gone a day.
    Love,
    Kathleen

  14. I'm glad you are home. I read while you were away but I couldn't comment knowing you were displaced in paradise. I'm funny like that. I've read everything except for your last two posts. Now, I'm working on commenting. I've been really busy! But I love to read your blog. Even if I hit and run.

Good god! That man's legs are amazing! Aren't they? And you were just too cute done up like that. And not to leave YOUR legs out, you have some nice upper under thigh. Rawr.
