Well. Didn't See That Coming

All right! Here's a little quiz.

Can you guess the reason that Ms. Moon has been achy and not well?

1. Too much sex!

2. Inspired by the Olympics she's started to train for a triathlon.

3. She has covid.

If you guessed #3, you win!

Can you believe that shit?

But I'm fine. Very, very mild symptoms. My main problems are having an extremely fuzzy brain with no focus, I'm slow as a sloth, and I sweat like crazy when my fever breaks. I have no headache, no sore throat, I have a little sinus congestion but so far no coughing. I took two ibuprofen this afternoon and slept for a few hours but I have nothing else I need to do so this is perfect. I talked to my dear landlord and he says to just stay and be comfortable if I want. I had first thought we should pack up and go home while Glen's still feeling okay but I could not be anymore comfortable at home than I am here. I even got in the little pool a while ago and it was heaven as was the mango I ate this afternoon. The sweetest, orangest mango on earth, I think. Thankfully I have not lost my sense of smell or taste.

Glen's tested negative but he'll test again tomorrow. I can't imagine he won't get it and he's showing a few symptoms, mostly congestion.

I am a little frustrated because I do want to go out and DO things and see things but that would not be prudent or fair to others. And honestly, I don't feel like I have the energy right now.

And I am very happy with the things I am seeing right here.

This. This is the pool I want.

So all is well despite covid. I've had worse vacations. Trust me.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. Well that stinks! May your case be as mild as my husband’s. He was at a routine appointment with his PCP and told them he was getting a cold, they tested him and he was positive. It truly was no worse for him than a mild cold, no loss of taste/smell, no fever, just a tiny bit of tiredness. He did have a regimen of the drug that isn’t Paxlovid (neither of us can take that because of hypertension meds we take) but works pretty much the same way. He lived a little like a leper in his own house and I never got it. So fingers crossed for you both - and what a bummer! A birthday you’ll remember, just not how you thought you would. Margaret

    1. Wow. Your husband did have a mild case. I consider mine to be pretty mild but I definitely know I'm sick.

  2. Well, you are there to rest and recoup your energies and that bitch Covid is going to make sure you do just that!
Surely you can get out and walk without a lot of people hanging around! Hopefully Glen won't catch the bug and by the time you have to head back to Floyd, you'll be feeling good again!
You are in your beloved Roseland ... bask in that!

    1. I thought I was coming to celebrate my birthday and commune with the spirits of the ladies I knew growing up.
There is no reason I can't walk except for the fact that every time I get hot (which is every time I go outside) I start to sweat like a beast and feel like I'm going to die. I'm hoping that tomorrow will be different.

  3. Well, damn. Sorry to hear this but it's good that your symptoms are relatively mild. At least you can relax and get well in a place you love!

Is this your first time catching Covid?

  4. This will be a birthday you will remember in more ways than one. Covid strikes again. At least you are in a lovely vacation home with a perfect pool in your beloved Roseland. Your symptoms are not to crazy and hopefully Glen will experience the same or nothing at all.

  12. Well, THAT's a bummer. Not the greatest timing. Here's hoping your case stays mild! In a way it's better than having to cope with a kidney stone, don't you think?

    The flamingo photo is perfect.

    1. SO much better than having to deal with a kidney stone. I've had that same thought, Steve.
You and Dave have got to visit here sometime. I think you guys would love it.

  14. You are in the best place for rest. A while back after three days in very close contact with the man who was convinced he didn't have COVID and we'll, he did, I briefly panicked but never got to even imagine any symptoms myself. It's a gamble and vaccines work.

  16. Well, damn Mary. I'm glad it's so very mild. so far I have not been infected. I guess I can thank my small very boring little town for that. nothing to do, nowhere to go, nothing to see.

    1. Oh yes. First thing I did was to let everyone know that I've been in contact with over the last week that I tested positive. So far, no one else is sick. Knock wood.

  19. Oh darn, Mary. My BIL had Covid last week and it was mild and lasted only a few days so I hope your case stays mild too. At least you are in a fabulous place to pamper yourself. Hope Mr. Moon stays healthy too.

  20. Well, dang. But you are in a heavenly place with a pool, with your person, and may his symptoms be mild too. If your main symptom is that you want to lie down and sleep for hours at a time, that's sort of delicious. Enjoy your vacation, you. Despite your visit from covid.

    1. Oh gosh. Lying in bed and reading and falling asleep is sort of a dream come true. The only problem being that there are always so many things I want to do when I'm here.

  21. Well that sucks! Bad to be sick anytime, but getting hit on vacation is worse. Rest is your best friend.
