In Which I Hang Out With Bob And Kevin And Discuss Many Things, Including Male Pop Stars With High Voices

There's one of the tiny bean blossoms that I finally got a picture of this morning. And here's one of the vines' tendrils, gracefully snaking its way to the top of the fence post.

While I was out there, I took pictures of two of the types of basil I'm growing.

This is African basil. I've had a plant of that get as big as a kitchen table before.

Thai basil, which is more delicate. I love the taste of both of them.

Y'all- it's been a day. I did a few things around the house this morning and then drove in to town and did my Costco shopping and then I met Mr. Moon and our realtor at the attorney's office where we signed the papers for Lily's house. Before too long, the house will be in her name but there are finances associated with the divorce that have to come through for that to happen. Meanwhile, she is free to move in whenever she wants.
Saturday has been set aside for the family to help her and Lauren. For whatever reason, our family does not hire movers. I guess because we're stubborn and stupid. Also cheap. Maybe? Or perhaps it's not just me that feels the need to suffer unnecessarily. Frankly, I don't see how they'll be able to get the kitchen stuff alone all moved over in one day. It's going to take some time but if Lily's out of her old house by May 1, she's going to save a lot of money. This, too, is part of the whole divorce situation.
And poor Lily. Today was "bring your kid to work day" and she ended up being the caretaker for fifteen employee's children at her Publix. Which was no doubt far more exhausting than tending the liquor store. Tomorrow she and Lauren are going to chaperone a field trip from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Yeah, she and Lauren both will be all ready to move house on Saturday. Craziness.
Of course it will get done. Just as I am sure the painting will get done. Mr. Moon and I got to see each other at the signing today and then we sat in the car in the shade in the parking lot and ate sandwiches I'd bought at Costco.
Very romantic.
"I love you!" I yelled at him as he walked across the parking lot to his truck.
I have no idea when he'll be home tonight.

After our lunch, I went to Jessie's house to get the tags that I need to pick up August and Levon from school. It was a Levon piano lesson day and Jessie had to work. They both wanted mulberry pie with ice cream on it for a treat which is exactly what their mother had said they could have so that worked out well. I had a micro bite of the pie and it was damn good.

After they finished and wiped their faces

it was time to load up to go to piano. That went well. Levon seems to have a pretty good grasp of it for a kindergartner. August read his book and I read my New Yorker magazine.

Back in the car and on to Publix. "Why don't you do your shopping later?" asked August.
"Because I don't want to," I said. He did not challenge me on that.

They were good boys and didn't bug me to buy them anything. Oh wait. That's not true. They wanted some BabyBel cheese and I got them some. Why not? They started calling themselves Bob and Kevin so I did too.
"Bob and Kevin! Y'all stop that!"
I finally asked why they they chose Bob and Kevin and was informed that Bob and Kevin are minions.

There you go. That explains everything.

We drove back to their house and before too long, I was on my way home.

And now I've unloaded the car and put everything away and I am so very, very tired.
On top of everything, one of the things I did this morning was to actually call the dermatologist and make an appointment for a screening. I cannot even remember the last time I saw him and I have little...things... all over my face and body that definitely need looking at. It was horrendously hard for me to make that call but I did it and I'll be going to see him in May. I'm relieved that I made the appointment but I swear- that sucked up about 75% of my emotional energy. God, I'm a wimp.

Hearing the news about Harvey Weinstein just about wiped out the other 25% I had left and I haven't had nearly enough time to process that. I guess that Trump's brain did not explode in the courtroom today (dammit) and also, WTF with the Supreme Court?

I don't know. I don't drive this train. I'm just holding on for all I'm worth.

Love...Ms. Moon

Blossom of the Little Gem magnolia. It's only as big as a salad plate.

    1. I don't think they've ruled on this yet.

    2. I am going to do a search to make sure! I was sure I saw that they had denied his claim but now ... I am questioning it, too!
      I love the Minions!!!

    3. Nope ... Not yet! Sorry for jumping the gun on this one! I was hoping!!
What did the Supreme Court decide about presidential immunity?
Supreme Court appears likely to side with Trump on some presidential immunity. The Supreme Court on Thursday appeared skeptical of a ruling by a federal appeals court that rejected former President Donald Trump's claim that he has absolute immunity from criminal charges based on his official acts as president.1 day ago

  2. Good to know Lily's house is moving along. My family used to be self movers, too. When I moved the last several times, I hired a mover. Granted there are a slew of young grands to schlep, but we oldsters are boasting some fairly big numbers. So I thought I'd just keep the economy moving and hire the job done.

    1. It has been claimed that neither Glen nor I will be lifting anything. I'm fine with that but I cannot see that man not picking things up. WHY haven't we paid movers to do this?

  3. Congratulations on the new house. Saturday is going to be a busy day with the big move. I've done do-it-yourself, family & friends moves too. Many hands makes everything work. Your veggie garden is doing fabulously well.

    1. Well, we don't have THAT many hands, unfortunately. We'll make it work.
The garden seems very sweet right now!

  6. I read conflicting reports today re: the not so supreme court and their decision...Not sure what's going on with that BS. I can not believe how grown up the lads are-
Good luck with the move, I hope it is effortless, haha. It will be grand to get them there and unpacked!

    1. Everything I read says that the questions the bought-and-paid-for justices asked seemed to indicate that they ARE going to grant him immunity and that's it. Our country is gone.
Not feeling real good about things.
I will be so glad when the Lily family is settled.

  7. I hope the move gpoes smoothly and quickly, pre-packing is the key here. Pack everything possible that doesn't need to be used between now and moving day.
Trump's head won't explode, it's the other end that is busy exploding. What's Harvey Weinstein done now?

    1. Well, I know that Lily has tried to prepack but her schedule has not allowed her to do a whole lot of that. When she and Lauren signed up for these all day field trips, they did not know they'd be moving the day after so today was lost for any sort of packing.
Weinstein's rape conviction was overturned due to "egregious errors" in his trial. For god's sake. I don't think he'll be getting out of prison anytime soon though.

  8. If a certain person's brain exploded would it look like orange jelly, I wonder?
At least it's not your house being moved. You will return to your sanctuary after the chaos.
I might need a little gem magnolia. I have had one in the past and also a teddy bear magnolia.

    1. Ugh. It would look like vomit. That's what I think.
You are so right about my sanctuary.
I'd never heard of a teddy bear magnolia. They seem very similar to the little gems. You SHOULD get one!

  9. Happy days for Lily’s new home. We are the exact opposite of “all y’all”: If we can pay someone to do it, we do. Move ourselves? No way. Most of our moves were paid by employers. A very cushy deal. But not anymore. And that’s why we’re always wondering where our money went. As for Weinstein, I’m surprised it took so long. As for the other slime ball, don’t get me started.

    1. Yes. It would be awesome if someone had paid Lily's moving expenses. I've head that the military is the best at this. They should be.
What term is worse than "slime ball"? Snot ball? Shit ball? I just don't think "slime" is nasty enough to describe either of those men.

    1. Mr. P! You have been reading here long enough to identify a magnolia blossom's stamens! They look like match sticks, not maggots. Or spaghetti.

Yes. I did the right thing when I made that appointment.

  13. Our family relocates without hiring a moving company. The boys look so adorable. Love the magnolia with maggots! (I know they're not maggots, but it's not often I can write "maggots".)
I'm so happy for Lily. Many many many a gazillion bagillion happy days in her new home. May she and her family always be happy and healthy there.
    Love,
    Patricia

  14. Oh, I hope the moving goes smoothly for Lily. It will be a lot of work but you have a good crew to help! :)
Levon and August remind me of my Michael and Thomson. Michael is in kindergarten and Thomson in first grade. I saw them off to the school bus this morning and they always have so much to tell me!

  15. wow, closing on the fast track. it helps that there's no mortgage and therefore no inspections and all the other crap that goes with a mortgage. I assume. when we sold the house the kids were in to them we turned around and closed on this house the next day I think or maybe the day after. if I was there I'd come help pack up Lily's old house. and who needs a moving company when family has trucks.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Oh, Ellen. There were many inspections! Gawd. I can't believe all the things that had to be signed off on.
I know you would come help if you lived here. You are wonderful like that. We do have trucks AND trailers. Unfortunately, Mr. Moon's big trailer is filled with construction materials. That was on the to-do list before the move happened but other things got in the way.

  16. Holding on is all ANY of us can do, I suppose!

I know Lily will be glad to get this move behind her. Where the heck is that field trip going?! Why is it so long?!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yep. Holding on.
I think the field trips are probably to St. Augustine. Those are the long ones, usually. The oldest city and all that?
