The Man In Black, Bears In Dreams And Other Mysteries

Jesus. The hog dogs two houses down are driving me insane. I assume their humans are at work and have no idea that their dogs bark endlessly. Not always but sometimes. Today for instance.
It is maddening.

And it's gray again and gloomy again and I dreamed about a bear and a monkey. A bear and a monkey! And the bear was very soft and kept coming up close to me but he had terribly large teeth and claws and no one but me seemed to be concerned that he might decide to use them to tear us all to shreds and eat us. He was not a domesticated bear. He wandered in from the woods.
And then I was in a city and didn't have my wallet or my phone and I walked and walked and walked.

Not restful.

And obviously, I am boring as shit today and I admit that.

Okay. Steve Reed- here's the Johnny Cash song I heard on the radio the other day.

The Man Comes Around.

And yep, the Father Hen will call his chickens home. Nothing like a good song based on the Book of Revelations.

And while I was searching for that video, I found another one which I am completely baffled about. Iggy Pop and Keith Richards and the Dixie Chicks and Matthew McConaughey and Bono and about a million other people? HOW did this happen? And why? Anybody know anything about this video?

Well, there you. Mysteries abound.

The dogs have finally shut up. Time to go take a walk.

Love...Ms. Moon

  2. I think you should drop them a note, which completely assumes they have no idea, and kindly informing them.

  3. I am reading this from sunny St. Pete beach, were I have been since Saturday! I just got connected to the internet today, so I was lost for a few days. I hope your weather gets better and the hog dogs stop barking. Gail

  4. I agree with Betsy, what an great video to start the day. I googled the second video, of course, it was a tribute made three years after his death and was a 2008 grammy winning video. Never saw it until today. It's a strange visual companion to the song, isn't it?

I had a significant bear dream once, at a time of great stress, and it took me a while to get the symbolism my sleeping brain was trying to communicate to me. One of the few surreal dreams that ever made any sense. Like yours, I was the only one concerned about the bear and trying to stay safe from it - no one else seemed to care. Paralleled a real life scenario, but it took me a while to connect the dots.
Hope those dogs stop barking. Mine is barking at everything and nothing today. Driving me nuts! Also wishing you sunshine and restful sleep. xo

  5. Betsy- Nothing like a little Johnny Cash to cheer you right up!

Jo- Ugh. I just want to go over there with a gun. Okay. Not really.

Gail- Hurray! I love St. Pete! Enjoy.

Mel- Thank you for doing what I was too lazy to do. I am afraid I don't really want to know what the bear dream meant. You know? Only one dog is barking at the moment. Which is better than the whole fucking pack.

  6. Occasionally our neighbor's dogs do the same thing and it's enough to turn even the most generous spirit into something from a suburban hell horror story really fast.

I dreamed I showed up in Paris with no money and no hotel room. But some locals in a cafe said they'd take care of everything. So there we go.

  7. From some dream website: "Bears are symbols of calm, stoic strength. Bears also indicate a time of introspection... If the bear is standing up, this is a sign you need to defend your beliefs."

On the other hand, maybe it just means you dreamed about a bear.

  8. Well, whatever Johnny Cash, much as I love your music, I'd rather read Mrs. Moon when it comes to chickens.

  9. I dreamt about you and your family last night. I was visiting and you were feeding everyone.

  10. Miss Vesuvius- Oddly, I've been having dreams about being in cities lately and I keep thinking that I should be stressed out in my dreams (I'm never there under good circumstances) but I realize that I am oddly calm. So what the fuck does THAT mean?

Denise- Well, that bear was standing up. I'm pretty sure I don't have any problem defending my beliefs. Oh god. Who knows?

Birdie- That sounds about right. What was I making?

  11. That's a great song! The fact that it's about Revelation definitely explains all the bizarreness -- Father Hen and everything else. (Although I don't remember Father Hen being mentioned in the Bible! LOL!)

I was so eager to hear this I plugged in the earphones and listened to it at work. I hope you don't get me fired. :)

I'm not sure what's up with that other video. Some kind of Cash tribute?

  12. Steve- It's classic Johnny Cash, right? And yes, the other video was a tribute made after he died.
