It is dark as ink and when I went out to get the paper, I had to stop and stare in wonder for a few minutes at the black sky sprinkled with stars. When was the last time I actually looked at the stars?

The roosters are crowing. Elvis in our yard, then his son in the yard next door, both of them mature and confident.

And then Mick, his young rooster voice cracking on the uptake.

Good morning.

  4. well, I was awake between 3 and 6 this morning but I did not get up and certainly did not go out! finally fell back asleep after 6 and slept til 8. I do not understand people who get up when it is still dark outside. we se many more stars out here than in the city but we would see even more if some of our neighbors weren't afraid of the dark with their bright arc lamps (so it seems to me) on all night.

  8. Jill- I am so glad i get to live where the crow of roosters is not reported to the local police.

Syd- I was JUST thinking about you and wondering if you'd decided to step away from blog world. I was going to tell you that if you had, it was okay, and that I would always think of you and be glad to have met you here.

Ellen Abbott- I detest light pollution. I swear. It is one of my biggest bitches. And yeah, I HAD to get up. It was okay, though.

Kelly- It did go well! Thank you, sugar.

Young At Heart- Well, if you have to go through something like this, might as well get it done on Monday. Right?

  9. I see the stars every night. I make a point of looking up when I'm in the hottub. It's my favorite thing. Well, aside from chocolate and wine.
