Now We Can Sit At The Table Again

I finally finished that motherfucker last night. I should not speak ill of it. It got me through some very, very dark nights. And I do not dislike the puzzle at all. So far, it has been my favorite to do. I loved putting together all of the little fairies and elves and critters. The tree in the middle was the hardest part, of course, but every piece finally went into its proper place.

Just in time, too, because we need that table tonight for our supper with two little boys. The soup part of the chicken and dumplings is simmering away right now.

I got a call back from my urologist today but of course he had to leave a voice mail because I had my phone silenced when he called. After viewing the X-Ray he said that this stone still in my kidney is actually a centimeter in width now and that they can blast it and to call his office to set up an appointment.
Holy shit. That stone I had was was about half that size. I do not know what to do. I think I can feel it sometimes, a sort of twinge/pang in that side. I need to call him back and talk to him but I just could not bring myself to do that today.

Anyway, moving on, I washed all the bed linens, ours and the guest room bed for the boys. I also weeded where I'd planted the zinnias and then planted some more seeds there as Mr. Moon accidentally cut some of them down when he was mowing and besides, I want LOTS of zinnias. So they're being watered right now. My tiger familiar followed me all around the yard today as I moved from garden to clothesline and back to the garden.

At one point she even came up to me and wanted scritches which I gladly gave her with my dirty fingers. She does not mind the dirt any more than I do. But it was unusual for her to do that as she generally acts like she is not even aware of my presence outside. Or inside for that matter, unless she wants food.

And that's been my day. Laid back and easy. It's still not broiling hot here and that's been a blessing. And now I better get back in the kitchen and make up the dumplings.

Here are the dumpling boys.

There was face-painting at August's school today.
Yesterday when we were talking about them coming over, Levon laid out the itinerary for their stay and it went something like this: "TV, TV, TV, food, bath or shower, bed, TV, TV, TV, food.

Yep. What could be better?

Happy Friday, y'all.

Love...Ms. Moon

    2. I remember one time Mr. Moon, while trying to be sweet, cleared out my garden for me and while he did that, he also pulled up all of my herbs. "I didn't know what they were!" he said. To which I answered, "Did you not notice that these were the best smelling weeds you'd ever smelled?"
      Sigh.
This stone is causing me so much anxiety.

  3. Mary, i'm sure you know this, but those zinnias need lots of room between plants.

    1. Don't worry. They're pretty well spaced out.

  4. Get the stone zapped before it starts moving. Take drugs if necessary and then you can put the whole saga behind you without living with the fear of a meandering crystal bunging up your works.

    1. The damn problem is, is that the drugs taken PO were not helpful in the least when the grit was passing. The idea of going through that again makes me want to weep. But yeah. I need to get this over with.

  6. 37paddington: I think you might need to get that stone out of you. What can they do to help with the pain of passing the gravelly specks?

    Beautiful grand boys.

    1. I think that putting a stent in might help although that sounds pretty awful on its own. And I'm going to see what more I can do in the area of pain relief because what I had didn't do shit.

  8. TV, TV, TV probably makes life easier on Mer right, but I'm sure that wonderful soup makes life pretty sweet too. I'm so sorry to hear about that other stone but I guess it's better to have all the information you need in order to make whatever decision is best for you. Fingers crossed!

  9. Sorry about the news on the stone. Perhaps you'll just go get it seen to? I hear your indecision. But I'm thinking about timing, and not knowing if it will move and all that. I hope you get to a good outcome.

  10. You need to schedule the lithotripsy. It’s not bad, I had it done. Then lots of liquids and pain killers till the fragments are gone. 1 cM is too big to pass on its own. Feel better. 😷

  11. they are beautiful boys. and I'm throwing out my third sowing of zinnias. I have so many seeds I collected from last year. might as well, they do no good in the plastic bag. so far though, the ones that are blooming are all pink. sigh. where are the orange, yellow, and red?

sorry to hear about that other bigger stone but you know, it you don't deal with it now it will only get bigger.

    1. Every volunteer zinnia I've had from reseeding has been a light pink/purple color. Every one. No idea why that is.
You're right about the stone. Jesus. The whole idea of it being in there is so scary.

  12. It's amazing to think kids used to survive and do perfectly well without television. That was before my time, though!

My advice on the stone: bite the bullet and get it blasted. You don't want that thing to try moving around on its own.

    1. I think you're right about the stone, Steve. If that thing starts moving at a time when I'm not near an ER, things are not going to be good.

  13. Congratulations on completion of the jigsaw. I wonder if elves and fairies ever suffer from kidney stones.

  14. Mary,
Checking in from kidney stone headquarters here-my husband is currently passing some more and to be honest, if you can go get ‘em with lithotripsy it’s better than worrying about the movement of the stone when they are larger. It is hard to know, once they are known, what to do-but on the bigger stones, you want them blasted to pieces. They can also do a stent to ease the pain. Holding space for you-I know this is news you were not hoping to hear.
