She's gone. My god, she went easy and sweet.
I held her around her soft neck and she didn't flinch even when the needle went in and the vet said, "Go easy, old girl," and she did.
Like that. In less time than it's taken me to write this.
Oh, if only it could be this way for us human-gods.
Thank all of you so much.
Love...Mary
I'm glad it was easy.
ReplyDeleteNevada Les in Nevada spilling it..Maine?
ReplyDeleteMe too, I guess she knew it was her time too. I am glad you did it Mrs Moon... She needed peace and rest. You gave that to her. You did good. Big hug to you from over the pond.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad for you and I'm glad for Pearl. You let her go with dignity. I'm tearing up, sitting at my govt desk up here in MN - and I'll be thinking of all of you today and tonight as you have your service for Pearl.
ReplyDeleteI am glad for both of you to rest now. When my old girl raised her head to look at me last November, I felt awful. Maybe she was saying goodbye or maybe she was saying, no wait. She was in renal failure too. It was time. But her last look still haunts me. Pearl was ready. I am relieved.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad she went easy. It shows y'all chose the right time. My wish is that you can all grieve as it best suits the situation. Celebrating a pet's life is very similar to celebrating a loved one's.
ReplyDeleteThat's good, Mary. I love so much that the vet came out, and sounds like such a great vet.
ReplyDeleteGood work, hon. xx
PS Mary, you're right, your dog had a better death than my mother. Probably lots of people's loved ones. I know it's hard. I hope you feel ok now.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to all of you Moons.
ReplyDelete--Michele R.
I am glad you found a vet who would come to your home. There where she always was familiar with and not an office of strange smells and sights. Held near those who cared for her...
ReplyDeleteSending you hugs. You did good. So did Pearl. XO
ReplyDeleteShe's not hurting any more and she has you all to thank for that. I'm thinking of you and sending hugs.
ReplyDeleteYou did the difficult thing for her, the unselfish thing. Somewhere your Pearl girl understands and is grateful.
ReplyDeleteTonight you and yours will laugh and cry and hold each other a little closer for missing her.
You have a soft heart Ms. Moon but it sure is strong and it will heal.
Thanks for sharing this.

:( You did the right thing, difficult as it was.
ReplyDeleteDTG- Easiest thing ever that was almost impossible to do.
ReplyDeleteAnon- That was cryptic.
Photocat- And am sending one back. Thanks, darling.
Jill- Thanks. Gosh, everyone is just being so sweet. It's so strange to think of how many people know about my Pearl now.
Syd- I am full of relief. There is nothing to be gained by keeping such an old dog alive.
Tamarra- Yep. Very similar. True.
Jo- He was precious. I asked him if he'd ever heard of a boxer who lived so long and he said, "Frankly, no. They just don't."
That made us feel good, you know?
Michele R- We ARE blessed. Thank you.
Ellen- For what it was, it was perfect.
Mel- Pearl did GREAT!
Lois- Thank-you, sweet, sweet lady.
Invisigal- Mostly, I am truly relieved. The decision was made and we did it and we don't have that guilt, that worry, any more. And Pearl is not in pain any more. Thank you.
Even when you know it's coming, it's never easy. She was a sweet gal. Our thoughts and love are with you all.
ReplyDeleteI am glad she went peacefully, but I'll still have THE SADS today, if you don't mind.
ReplyDeleteI love you and PEARL!.
Well I'm sorry it was her time, Pearl, and glad she went with you there.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it was peaceful-that's how Guinness went too, the needle went in, he took one last breath, and was gone...hardest thing to do was have him go away so easily seeing how much of my heart he was a part of...my condolences, Ms.Moon, to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteGoodbye, sweet Pearl.
ReplyDeleteYou all did great.
xo
I know she had a great life with your family and it was her time. I'm so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about this, but in your brief words is nothing but love and caring.
ReplyDelete(We have two dogs, one of whom is getting old and suffering from dementia. She appears happy with her dementia, but for how long?)
Pearl was my favorite. I loved her small head and her shiny black eyes. Even when she was so skinny, she still looked lovely. I'm glad she went peacefully, without hurt.
ReplyDeletethinking of you and your family and sending you my best....

RIP Pearl. What a beautiful dog she was, you'll never forget her.
ReplyDeleteSending you huge hugs and lots of love xx
-may flights of angels sing her to her rest-
ReplyDeleteI thought somehow it would be safe to check from work, but now I'm crying at the front desk, those words from the vet, so tender. Made me think of every dog I've ever let go. But especially my Casey.
ReplyDeleteGood job Mary, and Mr Moon. What a wonderful life she had, esp her end time. Hugs.
As it should be.
ReplyDeleteRest in peace old Pearl.
Oh, Ms. Moon. I know how hard it is to be a human-god. I am so glad Pearl went peacefully, surrounded by love. You're both in my thoughts and I am sending you lots of love.
ReplyDeleteHeart breaking.

Sweet Pearl.
