My grandchildren adored their grandmother and her quirks only made them love her more. And they became very protective of her toward the end, so rest assured you have a lifetime of adoration and care ahead of you from those beautiful kids.37paddingtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12400464105403622384noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2086296370004835655.post-2990088342544357032016-12-19T09:59:50.130-05:002016-12-19T09:59:50.130-05:00my aunt who lived in Lubbock TX had a friend who l...my aunt who lived in Lubbock TX had a friend who lived in a two room house much like the one at the Junior Museum although they may have had running water, I don't remember but perhaps not since there was no electricity and they had an outhouse. that house eventually got moved to Texas Tech's museum of the ranching industry in Texas as told through the houses that the settlers built and lived in back when it was still Indian country. the oldest building is an old adobe Spanish mission and then a dugout finally ending with a cattle baron's mansion. they found these homes all over the state and then some, dismantled them and them rebuilt them on this several acre property. it's really fascinating.ellen abbotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00535475792150335186noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2086296370004835655.post-27230938697725485982016-12-19T09:03:58.217-05:002016-12-19T09:03:58.217-05:00That cow was freaking scary. I don't blame August for being scared and I think he's a smart little guy to remember it.
You're probably correct about the snake cleaning but there's not a lot of grass in that little exhibit box. The closest I will ever come to having grandchildren is reading your blog, so thanks for helping me understand the appeal of the experience. :)

As for the snakes, I guess they just clean themselves slithering through the grass. Heck, even Olga gets clean just walking around. It's the animal way. That tour guide needs to learn to take a stab at kids' questions using common sense! I predict that their dynamic will continue through their lives - Maggie will be grapple-hugging August in a tutu through the years to come, always the brave one.
