A Little Different

Today has been a very good and sweet day. The Weatherfords made it up to the mountain last night and so I'm at peace in that regard.
In fact, I feel at peace overall, really.
I wrote most of a post and some of it was about today, you know- the regular I did this, I did that.
Okay. Rather boring but normal stuff. And that was fine.
But then I wanted to write about something else that was more personal, more difficult to put into words and I did indeed write about it but I'm not ready to make the decision to post it or not.
Hey! It's not earthshaking. Trust me.
And all is well.
In fact, all is pretty damn well.
And tomorrow we shall see how I feel about it all.
So that's tonight's post and I suppose that my overall feeling right now is one of peace and gratefulness at another day in my life of pragmatic miracles and even joy.
Miracles of growing things, long time love, three pileated woodpeckers right beside me on the porch at one time, and how very, very delicious banana pancakes with just-picked blueberries with pecans can taste.
Stuff like that.
Some of which brought me joy.

And would you look at that?

More tomorrow.

Love...Ms. Moon

  1. I found some more zinnias that looked a whole lot better than the last lot I bought, so I bought them. It's been raining hard since last night and is expected to rain hard for the next two days, and then maybe I'll get them planted.
For some strange reason my stomach doesn't want to empty in a timely fashion and now I'm bloated and don't feel like eating much. Hopefully this passes.
Three pileated woodpeckers, amazing! I saw what looked like a partially drowned crow today, poor thing. Did I mention it's been raining hard?
Life continues on, boring but good.

    1. Oh no! We call a really, really hard rain a "toad strangler". Sounds like you've having a crow drowner.
I hope your new zinnias take to summer with their entire hearts!
And I hope your tummy picks up the pace a little.

  2. Wonderful day here, too, full of new ideas and walking and seeds germinating. Now I'm curious about the thing you're thinking about sharing here. I hope it's good stuff?

  3. Marigolds!! I do love them, especially the small variety with the oranges and reds and yellows all mixed in. Glad to hear they all arrived safely at Black Mountain. I am curious too about the unpublished writing.

    1. These marigolds are pretty big. I think I like those the most but the little ones are good too.

  4. Marigolds are such happy, unpretentious flowers. None of the "look at me" vibes of flashier models just quiet certainty that they are, indeed, beautiful.

  5. Sometimes it is wise to hold back on things. Mull it over or sleep on it. Still, because I am a nosy fellow I look forward to reading the "something else" that you have held back.

  6. Merry marigolds! Such cheerful blooms! So glad the family has arrived for their vacation safely. I hope they enjoy the cool we're having now. I'm going for lunch on the Blue Ridge Parkway with friends today. Of course I want you to express your thoughts and feelings, and will be perfectly supportive of whatever they might be. You are you, the most unique and wonderful you that you just are!

    1. The Weatherfords have already attended a family wedding! So life is going on as it should. Beautiful pictures from that. A real mountain wedding.

  9. Finding joy and happiness in the garden and observing wildlife makes me happy too.
Your marigolds are cheerful. The small petals are aligned symmetrically making a perfect circle. The wonders of nature are very much enjoyed.
Thank you for sharing your garden via the blog. I've learned a lot.
For example, my tomato plants in the growbag are putting out flowers.

    1. Oh, Susan! I am so glad to hear about your tomatoes!
I love my table on my back porch where every time I look up and out to the backyard I can see so many different creatures and hear even more. I never get bored with that.

  10. Today I planted my tomato plant - in the garlic infested garden. I used a garden fork to get rid of the Rose of Sharon seedlings which REFUSE to be pulled up by hand and cleaned out a spot big enough for one tomato plant and used a gallon of water in the planting hole. Let us see what happens! I look at your gorgeous garden plants and am SO envious.!! I wish I could afford a gardener to do all the hard work, but that is not going to happen. I have made th4 decision to discard all the old vegetable seeds I have saved because even if I could prepare the soil, there is no guarantee they are still viable. Such is life.....
